We splurged for a King Superior room with an ocean view. The room we were given was on the third floor, at the far end of the property from the office. When we attempted to go to our room, I couldn't get the elevator to work. So, I walked all the way back up to the office to see if there was some trick to operating it; a key or code to use. I was informed (at 10:30 PM), ”Oh yeah, that elevator hasn't worked for some time. We keep trying to get someone to fix it, but ...” I have a bad back and a serious heart condition, so I asked how was supposed to get over 100 pounds worth of luggage (this stop was part of a longer trip) up two flights of stairs. There was a frail, older woman working in the lobby, mopping the floor who offered to help. There was no way that was an option. I turned to the desk attendant and said, ”I am paying over $300 per night for this room and I have to drag luggage up those flights of stair? Is there nothing that can be done? She informed me that ”I am only the night auditor, so you will need to talk to the manager in the morning..” Well, that isn't really going to help, since I need my luggage and need a place to sleep TONIGHT. So, I wrestled the bags upstairs, and thankfully didn't die or cause any back injuries. The room was adequate, and the balcony and view of the ocean was lovely. There was a ”Message” light on the phone which flashed all night. I checked, there were no messages, but also no way to stop the flashing. I threw a wash cloth over it and went to bed. The fact that this elevator had not been working for some time, AND there was no mention on the website of having to navigate stairs to a third floor room is completely unacceptable.
