This is a rather rustic retreat center, up on a pass on the road between Oslo and Flam. We chose it because it is within range of catching the first ferry in Flam, and it worked quite well for that. The breakfast was solid. The people running the establishment are very nice, and offered some waffles as there was no where nearby to catch dinner at the time of night we got it. Nice drive to and from the location.

At this mountain home, you get cozy and personal service. In addition, we had a royal breakfast with everything we could want from cold cuts, smoked salmon, yoghurt, a selection of juices, eggs, coffee and tea. For the price we paid, this was simply impressive! The room was simple, but had a large bathroom with a bathtub, good Jensen mattresses, and some views of the mountains. Very quiet and peaceful. Nice accommodation over the mountain towards Bergen.

No one at the reception on arrival, waited a long time. No info on ********** about a Christian sect characterizing the hotel. The room and bathroom dirty. Bad smell in the room. Missing 1 duvet, towels, tooth glasses and toilet paper. Had to put the duvet cover on myself. According to *********, the hotel has a restaurant, which it is not, just a dining room. Ants and cockroaches in the dining room.

My wife and I spent just under a day at the hotel, and got in good contact with the manager. From what I understood, it was mostly just him and his wife who ran the hotel, as managers. They cooked, cleaned the rooms and repaired what there was money to repair. There is much that remains to be fixed, but it requires a great deal of effort from the owners, whoever they are. On departure from the hotel, my wife and I each received our lovely lunch pack, with 3 nice sandwiches, fruit and yoghurt. They were almost worth the entire stay.

Very good service, good dinner and breakfast! Can't find anywhere that it is written that the hotel is completely without alcohol serving. We like to enjoy wine with our food and were quite surprised! Therefore do not recommend this hotel as a holiday option, immediately to friends. PS the blueberry cider was lovely
