Ku Sungula Safari Lodge

Best ever safari experience! Everything was perfect! Great place, friendly staff, good food, nice pool and a totally best ever experience with the safari. We had two safaris per day, one in the early morning and one in the afternoon and we did see elephants ( a lot), lions, buffalos, crocs, giraffs, rhinoceros, impalas, other deers and many more during the four tours we did during three days.

Had the most amazing safari experience. Ku Sungula offers a fantastic stay, the rooms are lovely, each with its own outside veranda/sitting area, the food was exquisite, a la carte. The grounds are well kept, a lovely pool and lots of sitting areas. We were visited by elephants whilst sunbathing by the pool. We went on two safari drives per day, our rangers, Universe and John, were absolutely fantastic, in tracking the big 5. Had great service by all.

It is a pity that there are only five stars to rate our stay at the Ku Sungula Safari Lodge, because the lodge, the reserve and all we experienced was worth a lot more than that. Paola is a well-travelled visitor of African reserves and lodges, from Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania and Botswana, while the four days we spent in the Kruger were my very best stay in an African lodge. We chose the Ku Sungula through Safaribookings becuase we liked the versatility of the portal and the description of the lodge. Still, I would have never expected the much we definitely found and the bonuses we enjoyed. The whole process of inquiry and booking went smooth and easy. Yolanda, who then we met at the lodge, was just perfect in replying quickly to all my requests of information. The great and extremely pleasant surprise came with the arrival to the lodge: friendly and caring staff, great attention to all services, the neat and cozy cottage they assigned to us, fantastic food served on immaculate tableclothes for breakfast and lunch, while watching elephants, zebras and giraffes grazing and walking right in front of our eyes. As well as a warm boma dinner time spent with the other guests of the lodge. All was as described and shown in the lodge's web site. Even a lot better than a picture or a blurb can describe. And then the early morning and the night safari games with a brilliant Moses, as well as the great tracker (the best "eyes of Africa" in spotting wildlife, as Paola called him) sitting in front of the reliable and sturdy car. We have been able to spot all Big Five and much, much more, mostly close to the car but always with a sense of safety given by the both driver and tracker. This has certainly been the most rewarding experience of the whole 4-week trip in South Africa and quite likely one of the very best travel experiences both Paola and I have made during these past twenty years spent together travelling across all continents. A REAL paradise that unfortately lasted only four days. I wish I had previously decided to stay longer than that. A special thank goes to fabulous Yolanda, who did a lot more than we would expect from a manager-in-residence. She offered us an unforgettable surprise candle-lit dinner for our anniversary that I had only brielfy mentioned to her. Yolanda also arranged for us a safari inside the Kruger NP with Bress, a nice, experienced and multi-skilled English lady who has resided here for over 15 years . Furthermore, Yolanda arranged for us the booking of one unplanned flight and drove us personally to Huidspruit airport. It is very hard to thank her properly. We only hope to come back soon to Kruger and Ku Sungula, which we could certainly consider our wonderful home-away-from home.

The team at the Ku Sungula Safari lodge really make you feel welcome from the very first moment. All aspects of our stay left beautiful memories with us. The staff is so friendly and took very good care of us with lovely food and drinks and are very helpful at any time. The lodges are very comfortable and nicely decorated and have direct view on the wildlife outside. Our stay included 2 game drives per day. The ranger and the spotter are very experienced and have lots to tell about the animals moving across the Balule reserve. The ranger does not give an ‘animal-guarantee’ but just that makes the drive an adventure. The mix of their tracking skills, incredible hawk eyes and collaboration with other rangers results in seeing a wide variety of animals every time. Elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos, lions, crocodiles, vultures, …. Please pay the team a visit, they deserve it; you will have a wonderful time!

Our stay was everything we hoped for and more! The lodges were super clean, nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were the sweetest ever, always kind and very hospitable. The manager is very well educated on everything that has to do with nature. He can answer all of your questions which made our guided tours and camping trip so much more valuable. We’ve so enjoyed all of the animals on the game drives, and even hanging by the pool with a “mengeldrankie” you see an occasional giraffe grazing by. We’ve missed the rhino for our big five, even more reason to return! Would definitely recommend for just a few nights or longer. You can put all of your planning in their hands and I’m sure you will have a magical holiday as well!

I absolutely loved Ku Sungula, the safaries/gane drives, the amazing staff and the atmosphere! I do hope I will come back soon, because the place is amazing! I saw all the animals I could have imagine and then some. Thank you, Inkomo, tak!

We stayed for 5 nights - service was excellent! Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Janco took us on a walking safari and was very knowledgeable about conservation and all sorts of information. Moshe was our ranger and helped us spot the Big 5 in 2 hours. More importantly he was was very professional and knowledgeable. Showed us hyena cubs and 3 leopards! The lodge is lovely and it is fun to sit by the watering hole and watch the animals.

What a great experience to be in this resort. A special welcome from the staff, the beautiful accommodation and the wonderful surrounding gives us a an unforgettable memory. Every day animals will come to the waterfront while you relaxed in the swimming pool. The game drives twice a day were great, the guys now so much and find the smallest animals! Lovely food was served and delicious homemade cookies in your own accommodation.

Thank you to all at Ku Sungula for making our honeymoon so unforgettable! The staff are so friendly, they can't do enough for you. Our tracker Sibs and ranger Riduel tracked down all of the big 5 for us along with too many other animals to count. The elephant came right up to our rondavel one night which was an experience! Clementine is a fantastic chef and the food was excellent every day and served in lovely surroundings. Overall it was a perfect start to our honeymoon in beautiful South Africa!
