"This hotel boasts an excellent location, within walking distance to Victoria Falls, the Zambian border post, and the Lookout Cafe (for canopy tours and swing jumps). The rooms were clean and tidied daily. The hotel staff were friendly and kind. The breakfasts were delicious, especially the cappuccino and the omelet with spinach and onions. The River restaurant, also offering great food, is just a stone's throw from the hotel. Highly recommended!"

"I stayed here as part of a group tour, and this was my favourite accomodation on the whole two week trip. The lobby is stunning, the staff friendly and helpful. This is somewhere that I would book for myself if and when I return to Zimbabwe."

"I just had an idea of what samanzi is, l just wasn’t prepared for the most beautiful stay l had there. It is totally breathtaking. Waking up to your own pool and not having to share. The setup in the rooms are such a beautiful aesthetic view. The breakfast was wonderful. It is mad different from the common English breakfast we are used to. There’s a bar in the middle of the pool and its beautiful also with the fact that there’s a bonfire close bu to relax incase you don’t want to be in your room or by the porch. One thing l didn’t like were the house keepers who aren’t patient enough to wait for a guest to wake up so that they can start their cleaning. They either disturbed us in the middle of something be it showering or whatever, and that was frustrating. Overall l lobed my stay there. I would go back. And Johanesse is such a good host🫶🏽."

"I stayed at this hotel six evenings on a business trip during my first-ever visit in fact to the African continent. I was truly "wowed" by this lodge upon my arrival as the lodge rests directly on the river Zambezi, and there is abundant wildlife literally present directly on the lodge lawn such as daily visits from vervet monkeys, baboons, warthogs, and even a family of elephants – making a safari nearly redundant as the hotel is a safari itself and is surrounded by national parks and by water. There was a sign warning guests of crocodiles – which I found out of this world and charming. My review would be roughly a five out of five were it not for one single event: I was robbed of nearly $1,300 literally within hours of my arrival in Zimbabwe and at the lodge – most likely in broad daylight in a serene bar area of the hotel facing the waterfront. I was apparently so "wowed" by the lodge upon arrival on day one and so naïve as a foolish foreigner that walking around to take photographs around the lodge premises while leaving my wallet in my backpack near the bar unsupervised turned out to prove a fatal mistake. I alerted promptly the hotel and the hotel was generally cooperative going through its CCTV camera footage and asking select staff working around the area that day. Unfortunately, the theft may have occurred in a "blind spot" for the cameras apparently. On the advice of the hotel, I went to the Victoria Falls police the following day and launched a formal police investigation. The police visited the premises the afternoon following the theft and the investigation remains ongoing although I had to depart Victoria Falls about a week into the investigation. The police regrettably did not have the capacity to conduct a forensic assessment. The hotel staff furthermore continued on insisting that I pay several small outstanding bills from the evening of the theft – which, while fully understandable and settled since, I did find slightly insensitive as a member of the hotel staff is most likely responsible for the theft of nearly all the cash that I brought with me – leaving me absent much cash to pay the hotel with. There is at the minimum one previous case of theft at the same lodge committed by a member of the hotel staff (see the review by Karla V in May 2024 also on TripAdvisor) – although that case occurred within the bedrooms and I am told the guilty staff member in that particular case has been dismissed since. I was told upon my arrival in Victoria Falls by my taxi driver sent by the hotel when my eyes were wide open on my first ever day in Africa that theft does not happen in Victoria Falls as the local economy runs on tourism dollars and all locals know that. I believed him. I was told to beware of wild animals but not of the people. I ask you to entirely ignore any such advice by locals in Victoria Falls not only because of my case in isolation or because of the 2024 case at the A'Zambezi but because of the wallboard in the police"

"many things wrong with such a new hotel. The Staff was awesome and free breakfast buffet very nice. Basically the only time food is available. No real coffee just powdered coffee. No dinner available unless 5 or more guest come for dinner. No snack machines available. Front door room lock is hard to use. The bathroom needs more lighting to put on makeup. Steps from room to pool are too high and could be dangerous for some people to get to the pool from your room. There is a tiny bar in lobby but nothing you would want to sit at. I wanted to buy a bottle of red wine none available. I bought a white wine for 25.00 us. Make sure you have the right plug for this section of S.Africa I had one for east Africa that was not usable only plugs in the room no USB but front dest did lend me a plug. Front desk could not process either of 2 credit cars even though my friends cards were processed(as were mine every where I traveled) Otherwise large rooms big beds nice shower refrigerator in room good air-conditioning. Could not find driver from airport to hotel taxi was 30.00 but we did have a free shuttle back to airport. Call from airport to hotel to get your ride. Hotels are often more expensive than most other places in S.A. I would book as early as possible of date of travel there are hotels closer to the downtown area that has beautiful shops and restaurants. I felt this hotel was a little too expensive for having no real restaurant. I paid about 170.00 nt."

"The hotel is a solid 3-star. The rooms are a bit tired, and the grounds are very densely populated, with a musty smell. The service is excellent, the staff works hard, and everything is clean and well-maintained. The breakfasts are poor, and the buffet is very limited, but for a 3-star hotel, it's fine. The waterfall is about 1 km away; you can hear it thundering in the quiet."

"Stay 4 nights in this hotel, breakfast is order to make, everyday same food , pretty boring. Hotel is pretty far to downtown, but they provide paid transfer 5 dollars 1 way. 10 dollars to the falls entrance and $30 to airport. Staffs are helpful and polite. Room is ok size but not big. We came in raining season, the road condition outside the lodge is bad and bumpy. So we give up walking to town. Alwsys paid transfer."
