"Overall, the hotel's design is quite good. The exterior and some decorations incorporate the distinctive red brick architecture of Otaru, giving it a strong local character, which is definitely a highlight. The location is also decent, about a 10-minute walk from the station, which isn't too far even with luggage, and it's right next to the canal. The staff's service attitude was excellent; they were generally enthusiastic and willing to offer help proactively, which left a good impression. However, the hotel's hardware facilities are relatively average, a bit of a letdown compared to the appealing exterior design. The sofas in the lobby lounge area were visibly damaged and looked old, indicating mediocre maintenance. The room layout was also quite compact, feeling a bit cramped when in use, with not much space left after putting down luggage. Additionally, there were damaged areas on the wallpaper inside the room, showing a lack of attention to detail in maintenance. During my stay, the air purifier also leaked, which affected the user experience. As for breakfast, the variety and taste were quite ordinary, without much distinctiveness. It felt pretty standard overall, but the price was relatively high, offering only average value for money."

"It's a bit far from Otaru Station, about a 7-10 minute walk. It's good value for money. Check-in was entirely self-service, and I didn't see a single staff member (I saw one shoveling snow in the morning, but I don't know if that counts). I don't know about the other rooms, but my room had two problems: the water heater was intermittently hot, and the bed by the window was very cold because the cold air from outside would seep in, so I had to use a lot of clothes to block it."

"Top-Tier Location with a View! We had a pleasant stay. While the room is compact, the location is unbeatable for foodies and explorers. The Pros: Location: Amazing! Surrounded by famous eateries and walking streets. Bar: Fantastic views and a cozy vibe. Note: You'll need to remove your shoes before entering. Facilities: They offer a public onsen for guestes, though we personally prefer private facilites and didn't try it. Parking Tip: Hotel parking is available (extra fee), but there is a 24h lot right next door that is cheaper and even closer to the entrance. The Cons: Room Design: the sink is outside the bathroom, and the mirror placement is a bit inconvenience for me to use. Ventilation: Windows are sealed shut, so there's no option for fresh air; you'll rely entirely on the AC. Verdict: Perfect for a short stay if you want to be in the heart of the city."

"Many pieces of furniture already have significant damage or large stains that haven't been addressed; the maintenance is really lacking. The bed was too soft; while tolerable, it wasn't very comfortable. Also, the double duvet cover was a bit off-putting. The lighting was good. The location is excellent, right in front of the Otaru Canal."

"The main building for check-in is really close to JR station. Just exit, go straight, turn left after you see Lawson, and then another left at the intersection. It's about 400 meters. The hotel is spread out in several areas. After check-in, the staff told us our villa was another 10-minute walk away. Luckily, there's a shuttle service both ways. It meant we were quite a distance from the onsen, but that was okay since we'd already had plenty of hot spring baths on our trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the villa's location – it was fantastic! Tucked away in an alley near the shopping street along the canal. The space was huge and well-equipped, and having an entire standalone villa was incredibly comfortable. I didn't encounter any of the issues other reviewers mentioned, so I'm very satisfied!"

"It was a cute boutique hotel with nice bonus facilities! Room is nicely designed and functional, with warm colors feel homey and comfy. Too bad we didn’t get the bath tub room as they were fully booked. Views from the window is mountaneous area, very nice! Bed and pillows are comfortable. Surface area for stuff are generous and practical, even enough space for sofa. Too bad they don’t give free coffee or at least instant coffee, only tea. No onsen. Music box night was awesome! Feels like a romantic dinner setting, but the smell of lamp oil was too much, gave me headache so I couldn’t stay for long, even though I would love to support the hotels and all of the polite and friendly staff by dining there. Staff are wonderful, smiles and polite and professional! During this trip we felt like Japanese staff in general are becoming a bit cold toward tourists but this hotel’s staff are not like that! We appreciate you guys. Thank you!"

"Room: The room was spacious with a vintage decor. The twin beds in the double room were also quite large and very clean. We had a great view of the canal from the window. Location: It's about an 800-meter walk from JR Otaru Station, or a taxi ride costs around 800 yen. I'd recommend taking a taxi when it's snowing. The seaside is just 400 meters away. Facilities: You can pick up various samples on the first floor of the lobby. Breakfast: The breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious! The sashimi was super fresh, the fried dishes were excellent, and they even had Hokkaido milk."

"Conveniently located within a 10-minute walk to Otaru Station and the canal. There's also a direct bus to Mount Tengu right outside the hotel. The hotel has a bit of a vintage feel, and the rooms are quite old-fashioned in style. The window view from the top floor restaurant is truly beautiful. The 11th floor offers a Western-style breakfast, while the 3rd floor has Japanese set meals, so you can choose what you prefer. There's also a large public bath on the 3rd floor for soaking."

"This guesthouse seems to be run by Chinese owners, which is nice. My room was right by the entrance. After checking in at the front desk, I couldn't find it until I turned around... it felt a bit like sleeping in a guardhouse. The soundproofing isn't great either. Because of its peculiar location, it gets very noisy in the mornings. And the room next door seems to be a staff office, which also generates a lot of noise. However, the room was warm and clean, perfect for a night's sleep, and the price was excellent. The only downside is that it didn't have a private bathroom. The common areas were clean and there was even coffee available, which was a pleasant touch."

Great Location decent size room with double sized beds with big space to move around compare to most other Japanese hotel 2. love the indoor parking at basement garage, especially during winter no snow cleaning required every morning. Negative: 1. lift is out of service, very inconvenient for people with big luggage, had to carry all the way up to the 3rd Floor. 2. Fake carpets on stairs, almost tripped over couple of times. 3. Owner never responds when assistance needed, upon on check-in, the pin code been given is useless because the room door are always unlocked, actual key is placed on the table in the room. Tried to contact the owner via WeChat WhatsApp line phone calls none of above responded, just seemed like the hotel is unmanned the whole time. 4. Had a little incident one morning where one of the guest parked his car right front of the parking garage door, which blocked my way out, again had to contact the owner, never responded, got no choice but to contact police for help.
