Just outside of the old town. This charming little B&B definitely deserves its high rating. We had a lovely stay despite just 1 night. Love sitting by the window, having tea and gazing out to the broccoli field and mountains. Owner is lovely, room is well equipped with everything you need.

The hotel appears to be on the edge of the old town on the map, but the old town itself isn't large. It's only a 5-minute walk to the center, 10 minutes to the outskirts of various attractions, and just 15 minutes to the opposite side of the old town, so it didn't feel inconvenient at all. The architectural style is very traditional, yet the heating, electricity, and water facilities are all excellent, making for a very comfortable stay. The owners gave us a lot of travel advice and even treated us to matsutake mushrooms and matsutake wine, which truly showed us the local warmth and hospitality. The breakfast featured incredibly chewy rice noodles that I still can't stop thinking about – I'd love to have them again!

We extended our stay for another night. Our original room was booked, so the owner upgraded us to a better room. The large bathtub was a hit with the three kids; they had a blast swimming and bathing in it.

The owner was very attentive and the breakfast was delicious. They were also very enthusiastic about recommending nearby attractions.

The rooms at Guixin Ju are cozy and comfortable. The duvet was soft and the pillows were just right. The room has both floor heating and air conditioning, which kept it toasty warm! It came with a large bathtub and a disposable tub liner, and the shower had a heat lamp so it wasn't cold at all! The owner and auntie were incredibly thoughtful and prepared a delicious breakfast. Because it was my family member's birthday, the owner even specially made noodles! We wanted to see the morning fog, and the owner even made sure to let us know if there would be fog during his morning run, so we wouldn't make a wasted trip. :)

I liked the atmosphere here. We felt relaxed and welcomed from the moment we arrived. The owner took really good care of everything. He is very friendly and informative. He shared many good places to visit. Famous local attractions such as sideng street can be reached with a short walk. Breakfast provide very delicious. I had a wonderful stay and hope to return for a longer visit soon

Together with my girlfriend we stayed in this amazing hotel which we warmly recommend to anybody that wants to find peace, tranquility and kindness. The breakfast is nice, I enjoyed the hot fresh milk every day, the room is clean, the staff serious and always available. The boss is friendly and we enjoyed a lot the mushrooms alcohol ☺️ Everything was perfect, definitely convenient also for the position since we moved everyday by motorbike we could reach the mountains and the ancient city easily ❤️

The homestay was really nice, quite, good breakfast, & the floor heater was excellent. The negative point was very slow internet but I used my own mobile data so no issues.

We had a great experience staying at this guesthouse in Shaxi! The room was spacious and comfortable, though a bit cold in the middle of November. This was in the end no problem thanks to the heated blanket at our disposal. The guesthouse has a wonderful picturesque chinese-style garden, where it is enjoyable to sit and enjoy the sun. The staff was particularly friendly, very helpful to give tips to get us around, and managed to organize a last-minute taxi for us to drive back to Lijiang. Without them, we would have certainly missed our train. 100% recommended.

Highly recommended! The host is really accommodating, and the deco shows the Bai Minority’s tradition. Will be back if visiting Shaxi again

This place is amazing! Rooms are especially spacious and clean, and even a little table to pour your own tea. Rooms are vintage style but have modern amenities. Faces a very beautiful courtyard. The owners only speak Mandarin, but they always do their best to help (Helped me how to get to shibaoshan). The home cooked breakfast is also a very nice touch Recommend anyone to stay here.

The place was absolutely lovely! The garden at the entrance was beautiful, and the room was fantastic. The staff treated us so well and even provided fresh fruit and tea. The amenities were great, with air conditioning, a hair dryer, and a clean, modern bathroom with electronic features. The manager was incredibly kind and genuinely happy when he found out I could speak Chinese. Our stay was peaceful, and the location was perfect—just a 10-minute walk to the ancient town. I would absolutely stay there again if I had the chance. Keep in mind, though, that the staff doesn’t speak English, so it’s helpful to have a phone with internet access for translation when you check in. Remember to always present your passport and visa. If your country has visa-free agreements, you may need to explain that a visa isn’t required for you.

We stayed for four nights and had a wonderful experience. The hosts were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable – a perfect place to relax. The location was ideal, just a short walk from Shaxi Ancient Town. While many visitors only spend a day or two in Shaxi, I’d highly recommend staying longer. It’s such a peaceful and charming place – we could have easily stayed for a week without ever getting bored.

As soon as you enter, the architecture is strikes you. Its traditional classy Chinese, but homey. The courtyard is gorgeous with a beautiful pomegrante tree to one side, and a fish pind to the other. You can chill out at some guest tables or swing benches while you wait or plan for your day. The rooms are clean and well done. Also Chinese, but modernized. The doors are locked with an old style lock and key which gives it a unqiue old timey feel. The bathrooms are particularly well done with modern western toilets (with bidets if you're into that), and large showers. Id recommend trying the complimentary tea. Ours smelled of chocolate, but had a mild taste. The service is excellent, especially if you speak Chinese, though if not theyre still very friendly. The owner helped us out with a misunderstanding with a local restaurant, and even gave us a free bottle of his local liquor to try. The breakfast is quite good, if you like Chinese style of breakfasts. Youtiao, buckwheat pancakes, hard boiled or fried eggs, and very good local rice noodle soup. The location is very convenient as we drove there and its right off a main road. They also have parking if you check and ask. A unique and luxurious experience without breaking the bank. I will definitley come back as I really liked the small tourist village feel of shaxi, and this homestay was excellent.
