We stayed for one night and it was perfect for what we needed. Clean room, great shower pressure, friendly staff, and good breakfast! We also had a beautiful marsh view with lily pads and birds. Everything was great - struggling to get to 200 characters

This place felt dirty and looked dirty. The smell in the dark hallways was questionable and was not a good feeling. We used the stairs a lot because we were on the second floor, and the amount of bugs and mosquitoes stuck to the walls and windows on our way up and down was incredible like they had never been cleaned. Our bathroom was not what I like to see when I check into a hotel. See pictures. The carpet in the room left our feet very dirty. The breakfast was the usual. We were just quite surprised that this hotel was ranked number one in town.

The location was great! Very near many great restaurants. The hotel was very old and dated. When we arrived, the light was out in the bathroom (don't know how you can clean in the dark). The exhaust fan did not work. The bathroom was full of spiders. The room itself was mostly clean. The breakfast was typical. Eggs, bacon, oatmeal, fruit, bagels, cinnamon rolls, juice, coffee. The bacon was barely cooked. The hot tub was not warm and the jets were very weird. All the doors were lacking weather stripping, letting all the light and noise (and bugs) in to all rooms. I am assuming that the construction going on directly across the street is a new hotel. I am hoping this hotel will be torn down after the new hotel is completed. The staff was not very friendly, not rude, but, not very friendly. Oh, they had one very small elevator for the whole facility. It was difficult to get the elevator when you needed it in the morning because the cleaning staff was occupying it with their cleaning carts.

Comfortable beds (Queen) and my room was as clean as an old tired room could be. This property is in desperate need of updating. Tried calling the front desk when I was on the road to confirm early check but my numerous calls kept rolling over to a recording which continued to bounce me to a call center for reservations. That was frustrating but when I finally was able to speak to the front desk clerk he explained that he prioritizes the guests that are in front of him over the ringing phone lines. I can appreciate that. The higher than average room rate for a Holiday Inn Express puzzled me. I'm still trying to figure that one out but all in all, it served it purpose.

This Holiday Inn was OK, the rooms are pretty small and the bathroom is ridiculously small for a couple to share.....went downstairs for breakfast on Friday knowing it was after food service but hoping for coffee only to find all coffee pots empty and all tables dirty....went next door to McDonalds and then back to our room as there was no clean place to sit. This was a very expensive Holiday Inn at $279.00 a night plus fees and they need to step up their game for that price

Overall a good stay, room was comfortable and clean with exception of the bathroom which needs a DEEP clean. The A/C in our room did not help the humidity, likely why you can see rust on the ceiling. we've stayed at many Holiday Inn express locations, this by far had the worst breakfast, few choices and the biscuits tasted like pancakes for some reason. Coffee fortunately was good. lastly the mayflies - while no one can control the swarms, you can clean up the dead ones inside! the walls and light fixtures where breakfast was served were coated with dead bugs! the entry way was as well and the doors were smeared with dead bugs that were never cleaned up. even the McDonalds next door was out power washing every morning. I would think at the high price we paid - summer tourist rates, they could at least put forward an effort.

Perfect location for visiting the area attractions. Close to grocery stores, restaurants, lake activities, safari park, cedar point and Marblehead. HIE had an indoor pool and outdoor seating near the pool and on the backside of the property near the water. A short drive to millers ferry, you can catch the ferry and head to Put In Bay for a day trip. Also a short drive away is Sandusky, Marblehead lighthouse, safari park and fast eddies go kart/putt putt. Hopefully you’ll be greeted by Ms Pat and she will get you settled. Coffee is plentiful all day and there is a small game room for kids to play at. The pool area has plenty of seating and a hot tub is available. Staying at HIE was a great option for our family of 11, 5 kids and 6 adults.

Catawba Island HIE is situated on the banks of a lily pad covered inlet of Lake Erie. A short drive to state parks with beaches and boat ramps and just 5 minutes from the Miller Ferry to South Bass Island. Friendly hosts and hotel staff greet you as you check in. Rooms with great views and all the great HIE amenities too. Snacks to buy when you check in and a great breakfast to get you going in the morning. Lots of great restaurants from affordable family friendly casual dining to a fancy night out for a special occasion. HIE Port Clinton, this is not just a stop over, its a destination too.

Check in was easy. Both the room and overall facilitris were clean and in good shape.The staff was excellent and very helpful.. They do empty the wastebaskets and replace the towels everday. The room was very spacious and the breakfest was good with a wide variety of selections.
