"This guesthouse seems to be run by Chinese owners, which is nice. My room was right by the entrance. After checking in at the front desk, I couldn't find it until I turned around... it felt a bit like sleeping in a guardhouse. The soundproofing isn't great either. Because of its peculiar location, it gets very noisy in the mornings. And the room next door seems to be a staff office, which also generates a lot of noise. However, the room was warm and clean, perfect for a night's sleep, and the price was excellent. The only downside is that it didn't have a private bathroom. The common areas were clean and there was even coffee available, which was a pleasant touch."

"I contacted the store manager Richard by email when I booked the room. We arrived in Otaru after 4:30 pm. With Richard's remote guidance, we adjusted our itinerary, gained time, visited Tengu Mountain efficiently and satisfactorily, and took the last bus to the B&B. At that time, I had already had a good impression of Shukujin Villa before I checked in. After arriving, the room was clean and tidy, the tatami mattress was soft and comfortable, and the living room was bright and spacious, which allowed us to have a comfortable space to chat and drink tea. This made me fully realize how good it is to travel with multiple people and rent a villa! Moreover, each bedroom is equipped with an independent bathroom, which is very rare and an important consideration for me to compare prices when booking a room. It is especially important for our family with children. If I go to Otaru again, this will be the only choice for me and my friends."

"The location is super convenient, just a 2-minute walk from Otaru Station (if you take the shortcut stairs). However, if you have luggage, you'll have to go around a bit, which adds a few more minutes. It's fully self-service with no staff on site. The night before, I received an email with the password to check in."

"Room in dorm spacious. We have place for suitcase, and we can move freely in the room. Big sharing bathroom. Clean and well located. 10min from the train station. Very convenient and easy to self check in after 7pm. inconvenient: smell of food in the room, miss a small shelf: I'm not used to sleep under my phone(...-_-) and the light of the bed, is really low. The washing machine was a huge convenience, and we had options for drying clothes either on the hanger stand inside the room or on the balcony. The location is a major highlight, being within easy walking distance to both Otaru Canal and Sakaimachi Street. We also found it convenient to have a Lawson and various eateries nearby, though it's a good idea to check their opening hours as they can vary. Important Considerations for Your Stay While the location is excellent, it's important to note that the road leading to the building is steep. This could be particularly challenging if you're driving, and we would not advise driving during winter due to the road conditions. For those with a car, there are two parking areas available. The closer one has three slots, while a slightly further option offers approximately 12 slots. Keep this in mind, especially if you prioritize a closer parking spot."
