I stayed at the Travelodge Euston for business. At £185 I knew that this was a premium priced stay, but being a Travelodge didn't expect too much. My previous experiences of TL left me avoiding them for around 15 years in favour of better offerings from Premier Inn. On arrival a pleasant staff member greeted me and handed me my key, which promptly failed to work on my room door despite opening the corridor door. I quickly found that the keycode system was temperamental. The room was basic and, disappointingly, an accessible room with two small single beds. On reflection I think that was all that was left on my booking options, but with the hotel feeling quiet at best, couldn't work out why I couldn't get a standard double. The café restaurant was nicely decorated and laid out, but the offering was poor - my first two choices for the main meal couldn't be fulfilled, so I opted to leave and head to the station for a more reliable Burger King. The room was really quiet, and the blackout blinds worked well in giving me a decent nights sleep. The TV had a good freeview offering; the tea and coffee facilities were very basic. The bathroom had no consumables other than water, toilet paper, and a basic shower gel. Breakfast was pretty good, although the apple option in the fruit juice machine dispensed only water, and there was no machine coffee options. Overall, average. Travelodge could do better, and particularly in offering more customer satisfaction, will support their decent staff far better. Premier Inn still do it better.
