Our second stay in Bishops Gate and certainly didn’t disappoint.Smooth checkin and car taken to secure parking.Suitcase brought up to our room and coats hung up whilst we had a drink by the fire.Everything we needed in the beautiful room with bottled water,wine and chocolates!We had booked for 2 nights with 1 evening meal ,however the food was so good in the dining room we decided to dine there for the second evening.Another beautiful meal and breakfast was excellent.We we’re so glad that the hotel accommodated us for an extra night for a very reasonable rate which included breakfast,dinner,secure parking and 2 glasses of Prosecco.Whilst the hotel clearly deserves its 5 stars with its luxurious rooms and public areas it has a quiet relaxed atmosphere which we love.The jewel in the hotels crown is undoubtedly the staff.There’s no evidence of hierarchy as everyone works together and supports each other so well resulting in first class customer service,second to none.Thanks for another lovey stay and hope to see you all very soon.Brendan and Eleanor.Armagh

Very good location staff very helpful had there own carpark and very convenient to all the shops bars and restaurants

The staff in this hotel is what makes it so welcoming. They couldn’t do enough for you, with a smile on their face and great humour. Katie and staff at reception couldn’t help me more , between bus timetables and helping get the large group I was with sorted in their rooms. I had to catch a bus and was reluctant to eat in the hotel as I didn’t know how long it would take. When I mentioned this to the lovely Michelle ( the real life Michelle from Derry) she was on a mission to ensure I was fed before my travels to Belfast. I managed to have three courses in 30 min and made it for the bus satisfied and smiling the whole way thinking of what a truly lovely girl Michelle was. She made the experience even more delightful. I have to say the salted caramel sauce for dessert was truly superb , I wouldn’t be one for desserts but this was to die for. Keep doing what your doing Ladies, your lifting spirits more than you realise .

As a couple with young kids who rarely get the chance to escape on our own it is absolutely wonderful to get the opportunity to stay here when we do. Having stayed in many stunning hotel over the years the Shipquay is one of our newer favourites. The hotel is welcoming and stylish. The staff are amazing, their friendliness towards guests and attention to detail is above par and was on this occassion also. We dined in the restaurant and the food was delicious & beautufuly presented. There's a nice cocktail menu too. Despite it being very busy that night our every whim was catered to. The little things like prosecco on arrival and treats in our room along with luxury robes & voya toiletries all make this hotel a very relaxing stay. The location is great. Parking though not available on sight is available easily nearby. We love this hotel and look to visit when we can. Bliss 😊

Lovely hotel lovely staff have stayed here a few times

Twin room was fine, but shower was small and the shower head could have done with a clean. Reception area and bar/restaurant was pleasant. I stayed here as part of a coach trip. I believe the hotel promised things they couldn’t deliver! Breakfast was buffet style and cold. Items ran out quickly but it took so long to top up, we just gave up. Evening meal wasn’t much better. Set menu with two choices and repetitive every night. It was quite tasty with mash potato, swede and carrots every evening. I requested chips one night and offered to pay. In the end the manager put a bowl of chips on each table - result. Service was appalling. One evening I had ate my chicken and mash before the vegetables arrived. Nearly 3 hours for our meal. People just kept leaving. Our driver spoke to the manager and reception to complain about the service and was assured it would be rectified - it wasn’t. Seems we were being treated like second class citizens because we were on a coach. People who were ordering off the Al a Carte menu were being served first. Not acceptable. I hope the coach company won’t use them again.

The Everglades Hotel is located on the outskirts of Derry/Londonderry, making it less convenient for those relying on public transport or hoping to walk to and from the city centre, especially after enjoying the vibrant bar scene. However, once you arrive, don't let the aging exterior deter you—despite its dated appearance, the hotel is surrounded by well-maintained gardens that hint at the care given to the property. Stepping inside, you're greeted with the plush and luxurious ambiance expected of a 4-star hotel. The interior boasts a traditional yet modern design, tastefully blending timeless elegance with updated fixtures and fittings. We visited for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, which were enhanced by the beautifully maintained Christmas decorations, including a stunning central tree in the lobby. The staff were welcoming and professional throughout our stay, accommodating our request for a room change with ease. It's worth noting that some rooms appear to be more updated than others, so experiences may vary. Our upgraded ground-floor room was beautifully designed with a king-sized bed, a cozy seating area, and a window seat. Unfortunately, the view overlooked the main road, requiring curtains to remain closed for privacy. A sheer curtain option would have been a nice touch to allow light in without compromising privacy. Rooms on the opposite side of the corridor had limited views as well, facing a brick wall. Standard amenities were provided, including tea/coffee facilities, a large TV, Bluetooth speaker, iron, vanity area, complimentary water, and high-speed internet (120 Mbps). While the room felt modern and luxurious, the bathroom did not quite match the same standard. One unique aspect of the hotel was the continued use of traditional single-use toiletries instead of fixed dispensers, accompanied by signage warning guests against taking them to avoid additional charges. While this appears to be part of an eco-conscious effort, it did feel a bit at odds with the hotel’s otherwise polished presentation. We prepaid for breakfast at check-in to benefit from a reduced rate and enjoyed the standard options of hot and cold offerings. However, the quality of the ingredients was underwhelming, and we chose to dine elsewhere on our second morning. For the NYE celebrations, the hotel hosted live music acts in the central lobby and bar area, creating a lively atmosphere. However, a few small details could have improved the experience—lighting the fireplace would have added warmth, and the musician, unfortunately, sang through midnight without acknowledging the countdown, leaving guests to celebrate the New Year on their own initiative. Dining in the bar restaurant yielded mixed results. While some dishes were enjoyable, others were either overcooked or overly seasoned, perhaps due to the challenges of catering to a larger crowd on New Year’s Eve with the Grill Restaurant function.. I have to say I have been going to Da Vincis for years, wasnt sure about the change, me just being over familiar with the norm, I have to say we went to the restaurant for our Sunday lunch last week, Leona and staff were amazing. Leona is a great front of house in the restaurant, very welcoming, very genuine and professional Yea teething problems but when u feel like nothings a problem and the service and food was amazing it just fell into place, when the staff make it their business to make u feel special and I’m sure that was carried out with all customers in the restaurant was great. Went to the bar and Les is an absolute diamond, breath of fresh air, I have to say the changes are good and very welcome, keep up the great transformation as I’m sure this is only the start of a new generation in da vincis.

This was a very good choice in terms of accommodation as it was not too expensive (in comparison to other places in Derry) and was very comfortable. The rooms we had were well decorated and the beds were comfy. The en-suite bathrooms were nice and clean. The room views were of the city and this also applies to the seating area out the back where we were able to enjoy a drink in the sun. The location is good and quiet although it is uphill a bit. This is not really a problem at all but if I had lots of luggage I'd maybe get a taxi. The staff were remarkably friendly and helpful. We met them mostly at breakfast and they sorted us out well in general with all our enquiries like how to find places in the city.

Stayed in this hotel which is within walking distance of all the main attractions. Peace bridge and walls need to be visited. Overnight parking available close by and bus stop just outside hotel. Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Bedrooms are clean excellent bed. Shower is an added bonus non slip floor and walk in. Room is air conditioned and black out curtains. So a good night's sleep assured. Breakfast is self device buffet will not be hungry afterwards. We liked the free tea and coffee you make yourself and can sit in rhe comfortable seats watch the world go by also have a bar. We were very pleased with this hotel and have no hesitation in recommending
