Hotel HS Milfontes Beach - Duna Parque Group

Nice hotel with a fun interior. Elevator in the middle and a ramp around it to take you upp to the next level, like in a parking garage. Nice decor, art everywhere and clean and quiet. Though if we hade chosen ourselves, a room facing the sea would be nice. This one was booked by our tour manager. Nice restaurant with buffé, best variation I've ever seen. Affordable price with drinks included. Food cooked on demand and excellent breakfast too. Nice view from the restaurant. Storage space for our bicycles in back room. Also nice staff.

Overall it is a very nice hotel, beautifully located in front of the beach. The breakfast was nice and so was the relatively spacious room. However the double bed was small and very uncomfortable. Having said that, I wouldn't rule out staying there again

Located right across the street from the beach and next to old town, this hotel has a great location. If you want to visit the beach, you are obviously not wanting to bring all your valuables. But you can’t lock the safe in your room without paying $2.5 EU per day. I have never experienced this extra charge in any other hotel. This is a rip off. Just raise the cost of the room price - don’t fleece your guests. Speaking of rip offs, this hotel lists that it has a fitness room. On my first day, I inquired where the fitness room is. I was told it “was moved”. I then asked where has it been moved to. The front desk person, then replied “to another hotel”. Unfortunately the listing (even on Tripadvisor) still indicates a fitness room. You will not find a gym here. I stayed as a part of a tour group. My check in was complicated because they needed to know the name of my tour group leader. Since this was the first day of the tour, I did not know the name of the guide. It took extra time checking in as a result. The rooms are very basic- especially the bathroom. My first night was cold. The heater in the room would not work properly. It would only heat for about a minute and shut off. There is inadequate soundproofing between rooms. If someone in the next room turns on the water, it will wake you up. If someone is talking in the hallway, you’ll hear everything they say. Only one big towel was provided in my room. My toilet would not shut off without jiggling the button. The shower head was in dire need of replacing. The curtain in the bath kept sticking to me when I was trying to take a shower. Be careful with the hot water – you could seriously burn yourself with just a slight movement of the handle. So hot!!! No makeup mirror or lotion. Incredibly, there wasn’t anything provided to hang wet swimsuits. There was a small flatscreen TV, which had some English channels. The Wi-Fi worked well. The buffet dinner had plenty of selections, but it was quantity not quality. Breakfast was a bit crammed for all the tour groups which stay here. Breakfast did not open until 0730, so everyone was waiting until the doors opened. There was a refrigerator in the room and a coffee maker. The pool looked really nice, but it was too cold during my stay. Drinks are not served poolside. If you don’t mind a very basic hotel, you could book here just for the location. But not for any other reason. There has to be better accommodations in town.

Very nice room with private tub and little patio, close to the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and beautiful things to see.

Receptionist couldn’t be more helpful and pleasant. They even gave us an upgrade to a sea view room. The room was small, but clean, quiet and comfortable with a small covered balcony. Part of the Duna Parque Beach Group, the property also has a pool and restaurant. We weren’t thrilled with the food selection at the restaurant but there were plenty of options near the hotel. A short walk to the beach and some landmarks with free parking available. They could not accommodate us for an extra night but recommended one of their sister hotels nearby.

This was a great find - not only was it near the beach but also quiet and friendly. We had a gorgeous room with outside hot tub and patio chairs. The lounge was great and welcoming and we opted for (the BEST value) half board so ate dinner there - wonderful buffet everything from sushi to steak and upon arrival huge gin and tonic !!

Very disappointed from the treatment here and the misleading and dis-information here. We’ve booked a room in the morning and the price dropped down by 40$ (!!) after only a few hours. Secondly - it said FITNESS ROOM in all the publicity but actually there isn’t any fitness room in this hotel. There’s a completely separate fitness center about 10 min walking distance and it actually extra charge !! I’ve never in my life was asked to pay extra charge for a fitness room - which is supposed to be included in the hotel. That’s is - if it is actually INSIDE the hotel. This is a complete fraud and misleading the clients d The answer I got was - we never said it’s free… this is ridicules answer and not respecting to the costumer. It’s like saying - oh yes we have a pool in the hotel. Or towels. But we never said it’s free. A fitness center is an obvious free service if it’s in the hotel. Or at least should be, it’s not like a spa treatment or food that you can normally asume they cost extra and not included. Anyway very disappointing - also because it was one of the reasons we chose this hotel over others, and there are many options. Thirdly - I was very offended and disappointed from the way the manger handled the situation. In stead of recognising the problematic of it or trying to offer some sort of compensation - he actually offered to give me my money back for the room so I will look for another place to stay. Is this a serious way to make an angry client happy??? More little details they don’t tell you - yes there is free parking, but only 4 spaces. So unless you catch them - you need to look for other parking. Yes there is a pool. With screaming kids and smoking non stop. Also the bed is very small for 2 people. Very small. And this is supposed to be the swite?! So finally I feel very cheated paying so much money for what is supposed to be a high class hotel, and getting such a bad treatment. The least they could have offered was a free breakfast or extra check out time. That’s so easy to make a customer happy.

We came here for 3 nights before heading to Cascais for a further 3 nights last week. The Hotel is perfectly situated next to beautiful beaches, minutes from the old town, walks etc. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly and overall the hotel is clean. Breakfast buffet is generous, if you can get a table on the outside veranda do as the view is fantastic. In the Evening the buffet /dinner appears to be very popular and good value at €22 approximately. You can also avail of a complimentary glass of wine . However , I feel it is worth pointing out some issues that could and should be addressed by the hotel to raise its standards and reputation that it deserves due to its location. 1-No glasses in the rooms . Why not? even for toothbrushes etc. 2-No hooks on the bathroom door for wet towels . 3-No towels by the poolside .This is standard in all hotels. 4-The beds / mattress's are very hardened uncomfortable ! 5-A daily charge of €2.50 for use of the safe. I have never come across this before. I travel extensively worldwide with my work, staying an average of between 30-50 hotels per year. This should be included, for the safekeeping of guests .Considering the room rates are not exactly bargains. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the HS Milfontes. I feel there are issues and shortcomings that could be very easily addressed by the owners/Management without breaking the bank in expenditure. Hopefully we will be back again in the near future with a sea view room ,albeit with a more comfortable bed !!
