Venice Beach
I booked 2 nights here before a cruise from San Pedro. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by the nice lobby, comfortable rooms, lovely views and convenient location. I arrived around lunchtime after my flight from EWR and while I had issues with prearranged transportation (NOT through the hotel) I grabbed at cab at LAX-it (kind of annoying but that's another story) and got here pretty quickly, maybe 20 minutes or so and I think that the fare was maybe $30 or so. I over tipped the driver and the total of $40-50 is floating around in my mind. I know that the shuttle would have been about $65 and I'd booked it solely because they could pick up at the baggage claim doors but I digress. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant, as well as room service which you can have delivered to the bar when there's no actual ”restaurant” service per se. There's also a great M Club for breakfast, and light evening snacks. It's accessible almost 24 hours (it may actually be open 24/7 but I think it closes at midnight). I'd originally been assigned a marina view room but the associate who checked me in suggested that the Santa Monica/Mountain view was nicer. While I'd have preferred the marina side, it DID get dark quickly and I'm not sure I would have seen much. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated in a somewhat seaside theme. (Somewhat, lol.) Comfy bed, large desk, plenty of outlets, giant TV and a comfy chaise lounge. The bathroom was spacious with nice toiletries. The room also had a Keurig and a mini fridge. The area appeared safe and I did walk to the Cheesecake Factory at night for dessert. However, I noticed a number of questionable characters in the area when I walked across the street the other way in broad daylight to get some lunch. Just keep your wits about you. I had lunch in the bar, yummy pork sliders and a couple of great, albeit pricey, even by NYC standards, cocktails. Gary the bartender does make some tasty drinks though so no complaints. The M Club had a nice selection for breakfast and ”dinner” and I was happy to be able to fuel myself in the morning and have a quick snack at night. As this is, at the very least, a Marriott managed hotel, the staff was super friendly and really tried their best to make everyone happy. The only (small) issue was getting a gift card applied. Please do NOT tell me ”your system is different.” It's not, and we both know that. If you do NOT know how to apply a gift card, then please be honest and say, I'm sorry, I don't know how to to this but I'll get my colleague to assist me. Other than that, which was resolved instantly when I gently suggested that the associate needed to apply the gift card or get someone to help do it, I didn't have any problems with my stay. All in all, I'd stay here again if I was cruising or wanted to be near the airport but not TOO close to the airport. I was able to get Ubers to a grocery store and to the pier in the mo

Customer service is really poor in this hotel; I am very happy only with 2 staff members who were the only ones who helped without an attitude. Terrible that they charge you 60 USD per day for parking even if you are a guest. Rooms are old and not taken care of well.

You can see the bay, but the view is not very magnificent. The sea view is a bit expensive and not worth it. The price of hotels in this area is very high, and the price/performance ratio is not bad. Parking charges, convenient for eating around.

The hotel is very good, very new, the room is comfortable, clean, parking is charged, it is more convenient to drive more than ten minutes from the university. I am really drunk in the American breakfast. Every hotel has a very bad breakfast. American breakfast is like this? Why is the English breakfast so rich? I won’t order any more in the future.

Our first time at a Marriot for a special event nearby, we choose Marriot because of all the great reviews of the Marriot chain. We arrived right on time at check in after a very long 8 hr drive from out of state, we asked for a top floor room away from noise as we are very light sleepers. We also asked if breakfast was included, and No it is a extra $28 per person option, so all the tripadvisor reviewers who had stated a full hot breakfast was ”free” must have not seen their bill. Anyway, the room was nice, bed was very comfortable, coffee maker is included as is an iron and iron board. Outdoor pool was closed for a ”special event” the next day ( why, we are spending top dollar for this treatment? ) Lobby is very LOUD, think Nightclub loud. It was like this at 3 pm and still the same at 11 pm, so expect to hear this when your trying to sleep as well as LOUD motorcycles and cars with LOUD exhaust passing by all times of the day and night. We were told this noise is a ”Long Beach” thing.....so be forewarned if you want any sleep. $200 plus a night with no breakfast, and No sleep unless you bring ear plugs like we did. Sadly we expected mush more from our stay.

The hotel is in a good location and in a good location, just 4.5 minutes to Santa Monica Beach. Because the language is not very good, the front desk staff is very enthusiastic. The room is large and the bed is large.
