Chateau de Riell

just returned home from a long weekend. a gem of a property. serene, beautiful, peaceful. fantastic service/staff. DELICIOUS breakfast. the restaurant was not what we hoped for [although it is so very beautiful. just not to our liking in terms of the food. but this could have been us....

we had an excellent time in the hotel. staff was friendly, helpful and efficient, atmosphere was very enjoyable, food was great. the rooms are spacious, air conditioned and include all amenities. all in all, very enjoyable experience.

As a self-proclaimed lover of food and wine. I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants on four continents and plan vacations around which Michelin-starred establishments I want to visit. Chateau de Riell deserves every accolade and honor that Relais and Chateau or Michelin bestows. Truly one of the most amazing meals I have ever enjoyed with some of the most unique and little-known wines to accompany it. Local flavors, charm and ambience, knowledgeable staff, and the majesty of the Pyrenees made for a most unforgettable experience. Give them a Michelin star! Two even!

This was our honeymoon straight after our wedding and it didn’t disappoint! We absolutely loved our room and of course the chateau itself and the surroundings and nature were also stunning. The staff were super friendly, efficient and helpful and we were particularly grateful for Henry coming to collect us from the nearby town when we got stranded without a taxi on the day of our arrival. Both restaurants served really great food and wine and the staff were brilliant there too. Overall, we had an amazing stay and are very glad that we chose this hotel as the place for our honeymoon.

Pre-Viking Cruise from Barcelona in late May we rented a car and drove, first to Andorra La Vella and from there to Chateau de Riell. If you have ever dreamed of spending the night in a real French chateau, this is it. The chateau and the grounds are beautiful and immaculate, with a distinct feeling that you are reliving history. The accomodations are splendid. We truly enjoyed the "Chef's Table" dinner experience at the Oliba restaurant. Breakfast was sumptuous. The surrounding area is beautiful - breathtaking, even. We did not avail ourselves of the spa, but we had a wonderful afternoon visit to Villafranche-de-Conflent. We will be back and we highly recommend a visit to the Chateau!!

This is probably the perfect hotel. The staff are a pleasure to meet, the faclities are superb, breakfast is excellent, the restaurant must be due a Michelin star very soon (but the staff are friendly and the cooking is amazing, exciting and it's worth a journey to the restaurant even if you're not staying in the hotel). The view from the roof-top swimming pool is amazing. and it's in a great location. Sraying there is a treat in itself.

We cannot recommend this destination highly enough. The accommodation, location and facilities, including the thermal baths, were excellent. The staff team, headed by M. Henri, are amongst the best we have encountered in our extensive travels. The restaurant rates a special mention. The gastronomic dining experience was superb and worthy of a Michelin star.

Every single member of the staff was charming, helpful and unobtrusively went out of their way to make sure we had the best time. We chose a superior room, which it was, lovely furnishings and little corners made it feel both luxurious and a space for us to feel at home. In our room on the second floor at the back of Chateau we found ourselves at tree height looking out at a nest of branches. Our dinner at the Oliba restaurant was spectacular and the chef, Benoit Janet, surprised, delighted and astonished us with really special subtle courses. If you come for nothing else, come for his cooking.

We choose this chateau based on location on our journey back to UK. We were not disappointed . The chateau is charming, full of character and stunning. We had a junior suite which was extremely comfortable and well equipped and big enough to have a German Shepperd with us, who was made to feel extremely welcome by the friendly and professional staff. We will certainly return and we highly recommended
