We have had a great stay at Onomichi Royal hotel. The hotel has clearly just been renovated - everything is super new and in a great state. We've had both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel, which has been delicious. We used the hotel as the start and end point of our 2-day Shimanami Kaido cycling tour. It being only a 15-minute walk from the train station, the location was very practical for us. They were kind enough to store our luggage during our cycling tour. We were really impressed with the hospitality and quality of our stay.

Standard Japanese hotel that is within walking distance of the bike rental and ferry to start the Shimanami Kaido. Did have a 4am fire alarm go off though and had to remain outside of the the hotel for about 30mins. Staff were apologetic upon check out.

The hotel front desk unfortunately assembled us into a room that recently has been disinfected and there was a heavy strong poison smell . Later on i communicated with the front desk and immediately they noticed the room was not suitable for people to stay and moved us to another room. The point is why didn’t they certify the room was safe or not to stay? I presume the front desk person who assembled the first room was not happy to have a foreigner customer . The rooms facing the side have ver limited window view but the other ones facing the road have a beautiful view of the seashore.

The room is really small, basically just enough space for one person to walk. It is the smallest hotel in this trip to Takamatsu, but the transportation is still quite convenient. It is suitable for two people to stay in.

The hotel is in a good location right on the water. The staff at the reception does not speak English and is not very helpful. Our backpacks were not brought to the room as is the case in the rest of Japan. We are used to a lot when it comes to traveling, but the breakfast here is only aimed at the Japanese and not the western tourist.

It's a little far from JR Onomichi Station. I walked there for more than ten minutes with my luggage. I could store my luggage. The room was small but well-equipped. It was quite comfortable for a solo traveler. The most surprising thing was that it included breakfast. The breakfast was very exquisite and the quantity was enough. But if I wanted to go out to the nearest Lawson to buy something in the middle of the night, there were few street lights on the road and it was quite dark.

Everything else is good! The room was pretty clean and the view was nice. Still, the service was good and it was close to a famous ramen restaurant, so I was somewhat satisfied!

The hotel is located right in front of the sea, so it's in a great location. There's also a popular Onomichi ramen restaurant next door, so it's convenient. It's a little far from Onomichi Station, about a 15-minute walk, but Senkoji Temple is also nearby, so it's just the right location for a stroll around Onomichi.

Travel is more convenient

The hotel is older than me, but it is well maintained. The single bed is also a relatively large one. The terrace on the top floor can overlook the location.
