Nice breakfast, clean rooms, great location, but no parking available near hotel, so need to carry everything by hand

Currently staying in balcony room 402 , our third visit to Riva and we always liked the look of this hotel so decided to stay here this time . Check in a breeze and all the staff are lovely , hotel is very clean and the room has everything we need , beds are really comfortable , shower is great and air con works well . Breakfast is one of the best continental we have ever had , staff bring real coffee from the machine in the bar area , a really good selection of good quality food with British style bacon and scrambled egg on daily as well, I own a travel company and intend to promote this hotel to my clients as well as returning here myself . I’ve stayed at the savoy Palace previously for twice the price and this hotel is a much nicer option .

This hotel is in a great authentic location, the rooms were big and very clean. The shower was amazing, would advise taking own hair dryer for long hair. The staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again.

This is a great hotel in the old part of Riva. We had a spacious balcony room, which was immaculate and cleaned on a daily basis. The bed could have been more comfortable, but the shower was excellent. The staff working in the restaurant were friendly, helpful and welcoming - we loved them all. The hotel sits in the middle of characterful, narrow, cobbled lanes lined with restaurants, cafes and bars. We had opted for half board, but ate out on a couple nights in order to enjoy alfresco dining. Riva is a beautiful town with stunning views of Lake Garda. Transport connections to other parts of the area were excellent and relatively cheap. We used the local buses and ferries with ease. Would definitely return to this hotel and the town.

Stayed for 4 nights with my best friend, upon arrival the booking agency we used had gone bust so unfortunately we had to pay the full fee again. Obviously we were very upset and stressed but the 2 ladies on reception were absolutely amazing and we can't thank them enough for going above and beyond for us to make sure we still had a room and that we would get our money back. Thanks to them we still had an amazing stay and holiday. The hotel itself is very clean and the rooms have everything you need included. The solarium is also a great feature with an incredible view of the mountains. Location was ideal as only 5 min walk from parking and near all the restaurants and 10 mins from the beach. Couldn't ask for any better would deffo stay again! Thank you!

rooms are compact but well finished, we had room 112 which had view of a wall and was at the rear of another hotel which was noisy with bins and shouting from 6am !It was also not accessible from a lift so you had to go up a flight of stairs across a landing and down some more stairs which with cases could be an issue for some and although there were night porters there ,no one offered us help with our cases or even stopped us using the lift which didnt take us to our floor. there is a/c but no one tells you its available or any instructions how to use ( different from normal controls) Staff are all fine throughout but there is no info offered on local amenities, bus times , sites to visit etc . There is an app called Trento which gives you free bus fares and admissions etc but they do not tell you. Food was ok, decent choice and quality (we only had breakfasts) there is a tourist tax of 2.5 euros pppn. And check out is 10am. Hotel is approx 150mts from lake up a slope but transport cannot get close to it unless you have a taxi so lugging cases for elderly or infirm would be an issue. Roof terrace promises spectacular views of the Lake but they are not, so that was disappointing. All in all a 3* hotel not 4* and probably not good for anyone with mobility issues.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a TUI package. Staff are on the whole friendly, the rooms and public areas very clean. Our room seemed to be recently refurbished with a nice modern bathroom and excellent shower. The maids cleaned every day and towels and bedding were changed regularly. This is where the review must highlight the downsides and I question it's 4 star official rating. Our room had one small window, looking out onto a wall. This made the room dark and we could not tell what the weather was like outside. The rooms are advertised as having air conditioning. This did not work in our room from the point we arrived until we left 7 days later and the room temperature hovered around 26 degrees C. The receptionist first told me her manager had said the main A/C plant was broken but an engineer had been called. The next day things had changed, apparently the manager had told reception that she had turned the air conditioning off because the weather wasn't warm enough and we were offered a fan!!! I believe, from reading anther review, that the true answer is that they don't switch it on until June. We paid for A/C, we should get it no matter what time of year it is. Accessibility is also an issue. The hotel consists of two separate buildings with different floor levels. If you are lucky to be given a room in the building where reception is located, then a lift serves all floors. We were in the other building where the lift starts on the first floor. To get to this is like an obstacle course, going up and down various short flight of stairs which seem to include a "bridge". Hard to describe and I've added some photos. I presume anyone with mobility problems is given a room with full lift access. The stairs are polished granite without a non slip surface or contrasting nosings for the partially sighted. Breakfast is adequate. You can make your own tea but have to ask for a cup. For coffee you have to ask and the staff will bring you one. How bizarre!!!

Great hotel in a perfect location. After staying in other locations in the area we would definitely recommend a hotel in the centre as it has everything right on your doorstep and the area is very picturesque. Room was lovely and immaculate and the sun terrace is lovely. The only issue that we had was that there is no air conditioning at the moment (end of May) which meant that it could get quite warm in the room especially on a morning. This is more of an issue with TUI though as this should be explained when it is advertised as having air con to avoid confusion. If you are aware of this and happy then it wouldn’t be a problem. We have found that this is a common thing among hotels in the area so just something to be aware of. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely return again.

We stayed at Antico Borgo for 3 nights in a balcony room. At check in we didn’t even get a “hello” and we were told to leave our passports with reception for 15 minutes whilst we go to our room. The room was quite hot, we were on the fourth floor and the thermostat displayed our room at 26 degrees. We were unsuccessful in turning the air con on so we asked reception if they would kindly help us work out how to put it on! We were told that it was “policy” that they couldn’t put the air con on until June. I explained that this wasn’t outlined on their website or on any booking sites, so I’d advise that if you don’t sleep well in the heat and it’s not the summer, then don’t stay here! Despite that, the room was spotlessly clean and the breakfast had a good selection. Coffee was not good at all but there is a coffee machine in reception where they make better coffee. We had an issue where the parking card we were given would not work and therefore we had to pay more at the car park than what we expected. Staff were good with trying to help/sort this out for us but we gave up in the end. I’m not entirely sure where the 4th star comes in here as this is a 3 star at best. Reasons being; no coffee/tea amenities in rooms, no refill of water bottles after the first night, no air con during May, no refills or replacements of shower gel, soap and shampoo (even when we ran out) and numerous staff on their personal phones throughout the day. Overall, if you’re looking for something basic and clean, this is the place for you. If you’re after something a little extra as a 4 star, it is not. We enjoyed our stay but there are just a number of things which could easily be changed to make this a great 4 star hotel.
