We first stayed here in January 2023. Two adults and a 12 year old child, in a one bedroom, valley view, self catering style apartment. We liked it so much we came back 12 months later to stay another week as a family of 3. We were extremely lucky to get exactly the same room! We love that the room is quiet so we were able to get excellent sleep every night. The hotel is proper ski in and ski out - although I would say that for a complete beginner, getting the bus or going for a very short walk, is the preferred way to the ski school meeting point. As the complete beginner advances through the ski school week, they will naturally feel more comfortable with the blue piste which is adjacent to the hotel. We also used the pool at the hotel which was nice and warm. And equally used the steam room and sauna, which were awesome. Our room had a large double room with a reasonable sized double bed, and an alcove with a bunk bed. The living room is a good size with a kitchen. The bathroom was also very large for French alpine standards. We will return again!

We stayed here with a young child. There were lots of kids in the hotel. This is a nice ski in and out resort on an easy blue, convenient for families with small kids or beginners. It’s a shortish walk uphill to the shops and restaurants. If you are booking ski school worth talking to them about meeting points as logistically can be difficult to get to morning groups from this location. The staff were nice. Check in was easy. We had an apartment for 4 for 3 people -1 bedroom and bunk beds in the hall way. There was a lot of space and the beds were comfortable but the kitchen was too small to cook proper meals and the extractor fan smelt bad. Everything worked. The spa was great with big windows with a view to the mountains, pool was nice but a bit too cold.

Can’t fault this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff who have a great understanding of English. We know a little French. The restaurant was great and delicious food. Spa very clean, relaxing and out massages were lovely. Good location, great views from the balcony. The fire in the evening was my highlight, we sat around with a drink and it was such a great ambience. The room was spacious for 4 (although the only issue- which isn’t bad in any way) is that there’s not much kitchen space for cooking and tidying. All in all though the best hotel we have stayed at in the mountains.

We went for a short Easter break at this hotel, and really wanted to like it. For the price, it certainly was different to expectations. When questioning a €38 charge for two bowls of yoghurt and 4 croissants for a child who recently turned 14, the reception person diligently printed out their terms and conditions to ensure they were able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that they were in the right to charge the "additional adult" breakfast for our child. Also, be careful about using the kitchen facilities that are right there in your room. There is a small sign in the kitchen which indicates you will be charged an additional €45-65 lest you taint their kitchen. My wife ensured that there was not a trace of 'use' by doing their housekeeping's job by taking out our rubbish and getting tissues to wipe down the sink of any water from when we rinsed our hands. After our experience to that point, we didn't want to risk it. Let's not forget the email received on the day of arrival to indicate that the restaurant is only going to open for the first night of the stay, and then closed after that. No indication on the website when booking, just a last minute gotcha after the full price of the stay had been charged. The hotel is a long way from the town's main restaurants (20-30 min walk), so you might want to check the facilities will be open when you arrive. Lastly, the overall feel for the hotel staff was that of being jaded and tired of dealing with tourists. We'd just come from an awesome stay in Italy, and the difference was stark. Overall, it is a lovely hotel, with ski in /ski out access, but we were let down on a number of fronts.

I highly recommend Le Chalet du Mont Vallon. Our apartment was comfortable and well equipped, the lounge / reception area very stylish, the swimming pool is lovely and the food in the restaurant very good. The best thing though is the staff. I unfortunately had an accident at the end of day 2 which meant I couldn’t ski again for the rest of the trip. As my wife had stayed at home, I was worried that this would mean my 2 sons aged 10 and 12 would not be able to ski again either. However, the staff were very helpful with everything from arranging taxis to fastening ski boots. A particular mention to the young lady on reception who used her break time to walk my son to the cash point so we could get money to pay for taxis to take the boys to their lessons. I’d definitely stay again, hopefully without needing to lean on the kindness of the staff as much next time!

Very comfortable accommodation - we were on the 3rd floor looking onto village and slopes and this floor has direct access to walk to shops which was handy. Good sized room for a family of 4 and also eat one night in the hotel & food was delicious- would happily return!

Hotel is in a fantastic spot door to door skiing, great boot room too. Thats where the plaudits end. Pool, freezing water, maybe its the new Spa method of wellness; when you have skied all day its not a cold bath you need. House keeping forgot to empty room bins which in our case had used sanitory products which smelt after 2 days, i had to request a bin bag myself to empty them. Not exactly 4 star treatment. Breakfast 3 days of no croissants- IN FRAN E!!, Apparently a supply issue even though the village bakery was pumping them out for fun? Regularly bread ran out, hot food too, poor planning. Evening meals were decent and good value. Lounge fire created a nice atmosphere- however please dont burn damp timber, it smokes.......no honestly it does, cough cough. Generally for what we paid, very disappointing, seemed short of staff. Maybe managers need to serve more to experience issues that customers , try the pool! Staff seemed to have ill-informed training.

Lovely warm welcome from the excellent reception staff , who were multi lingual . Unfortunately as we arrived late no one was available to help us with the luggage to the 4th floor . Unfortunately also there is only 1 lift which gets very busy so it is not uncommon to be waiting a while . Breakfast was disappointing and over priced so we made the decision to go to the lovely local bakery every morning for hot chocolates and croissants . Despite being In a 3 bedroom apartment with a kitchen there were only tea spoons available? We went to purchase cutlery from the supermarket and the cleaning staff took them all ! That was quite odd . The swimming pool is quite cold , the steam room and sauna are okay . Dressing gowns in the room and towels provided . There is a pleasant seating area around a fire , to lounge in downstairs but unfortunately never any staff to order a drink from the bar . The 3 room apartment we had was okay . Poor storage available in the bedrooms only 4 hangers per room. The boot room for skis was very basic , and not even an option of heated ski boot pipes in the locker , therefore if your boots were wet , unless you took them to your room they will still be damp the following day . That is a basic thing to have these days in a ski hotel . The ski out option was fine , straight to the chair lift and skiing back also , we got unlucky as was very warm though so the ski out option was mainly grass ! Location is good , easy access to restaurants and shops via a walkway on the third floor . Personally we would not return and there is much room for improvement.
