Braeswick B&B

Run by lovely Maria and Jon who were very friendly and helpful and are more than happy to chat about things on the island (& other things too!). A lovely layout with a great view over the bay. Fresh cooked breakfast in an open and airy setting. Hello to the very well behaved Angus who is very friendly, loves his ball and isn't a problem at all. The location is at the very south of the island - a lovely setting and handy for the ferry but a drive anywhere else, even to the shops or other areas of population like Lady or Kettletoft. My trip in April coincided with some very strong winds and almost freezing temperatures with hail and sleet meaning most walks on the excellent beaches and (few) hills were out of the question plus many of the places hadn't properly opened 'for the season' so nowhere to get a tea on some days. A lovely island and one I will return to but in (hopefully) warmer weather and when places are open.

What a fabulous B&B. From the greeting and welcome from Angus the spaniel to the most wonderful breakfast, to the bowl of water provided to locate and mend our bicycle puncture, everything provided by Jon and Maria at Braeswick was wonderful. They made no hesitation to accept our request to hold onto our luggage all day so we could cycle round the Island, lightly, before the evening ferry. Fabulous.

From top quality bed linen, lovely shower, comfortable bed, super clean, delicious breakfast, amazing views, great communication, reasonable price, fantastic hosts and the most adorable dog, everything is perfection! I look forward to my next visit.

Clean and comfortable bedroom. You can watch the seals play in the inlet below from your bedroom window. Sometimes yo can see the Northern Lights in the evening. Friendly managers and excellent breakfast.

Very well placed for seeing all of Sanday - a beautiful island. A lovely comfortable room, great bedding and excellent shower. Our hosts were extremely helpful in providing home cooked food to order and suggesting spots to visit. Best of all is the great view from the sitting room/ dining room over the sea (and we were also lucky to have the same view from our bedroom). Jon kindly asks if guests want to be woken if the Northern lights put in an appearance at night and we were delighted to be woken on our last night to the most stunning display right outside the dining room across the bay. Had never seen it before and it was a fab treat. Thank you to Jon and Maria for a great stay.

Great Room, Great Breakfasts and a very attentive host. Jon was great. Centrally located for all my day trips, quiet evenings for a good sleep. Very clean and well cared for. Angus(dog) is also very well behaved.

Rooms were comfortable, breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the hosts were very nice. B&B is also conveniently located close to the ferry, with a bus available to take you to whatever part of the island you'd like to visit. I had an excellent visit exploring the island with lots to see. Great value for money. Would visit again.

Excellent bed and breakfast, fantastic location, wonderful knowledgeable and helpful hosts. I would definitely recommend a stay at Braeswick if you want to visit Sanday. All communication was excellent as well. Thank you 😊

We had a great stay at Braeswick fabulous views, comfortable bed and lovely breakfast. Would certainly recommend for anyone visiting Sanday and will stay here again in the future. Jon and Maria were extremely helpful.
