The hotel has a very charming and distinctive decor. It's located on a small street, so it's quite quiet at night. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was good too. There's also a pool, but we didn't get a chance to try it out.

It is a very good place to stays and enjoys. Environment is good and around downtown.

we had a two night stay at bayon modern and arrived rather late for check in due to our flight. the staff checked us in promptly and tommy was extremely friendly. the room itself is spacious, although the smell of mildew was really strong when we entered. the room was rather old and the cleanliness of the toilet was pretty bad. the soap dispenser wasn’t working and the toilet bowl was filthy. breakfast was nice, had a variety of food options to choose from. a good mix of western and khmer! location wise, it was a little out of the main city, 20mins walk or 5mins by tuktuk. overall, i would likely choose another hotel for our stay in siem reap that’s closer to the city and better maintained.

Terrible experience. We booked this hotel due to the many apparent good reviews, the dissapointment began on day 1: first a tedious check - in process where we were explained everything into so much detail (even how to turn the tv on in the room!) instead of leaving us our space to rest after a 9h long trip. The next thing we noticed was that the toilet was discusting. After complaining it was cleaned but it is not understandable how this could have been missed (see photo). The rest of the bathroom was also very dirty (stains and rust everywhere, even on the doors! ), even the soap smell rancid (probable as the recipient must have not been washed). When taking showers the bathroom gets flooded and it is impossible to acces the toilet until the floor dries. Towels had holes in them. Sheets on the beds had stains. A chair in the room had a nail in the middle sticking out and ripped my pants. Pool area needs urgent cleaning. Food was subpar, the pizza was some basic dough with ketchup, next day we ordered grilled vegetable sandwiches and it took 45 min to get them, vegetables were not grilled and apparently not well washed either as we had upset stomachs afterwards, excesive prices for what you get (8 usd for the pizza, 5.5 for the sandwich + the free diarrhea.. you get a full meal somewhere else for 4 usd). Breakfast had variety but taste of food terrible. The hotel has so much potential but there is a total lack of attention and most importantly, cleanliness. Show less

Great hotel

PROS: Good service (Reception only, not the restaurant). + Quite location away from busy pub street but still quite close. + Great service from service manager Mr Ny and Mr Thom (I think that's his name) + Mr Ny was very professional and quick to apologise and offer solutions to whatever issues guests encountered. + Mr Thom smiled a lot and was very proactive in helping to carry luggage. + *Most* of the staff at reception greet you warmly when you leave or enter the hotel. CONS: - Limited food options nearby but that of course, is the tradeoff for being in a quieter location. - Supposed to be a non-smoking room but room 208 had a lingering smoke smell. (Quickly changed to room 406 thanks to helpful Mr Ny). - TV in both rooms were very unresponsive to the remote. You have to click several times and at a very particular angle just to change channels. - Body soap and shampoo in large dispenser had a bad smell. It was obviously not changed for a long time. - No hot water in room 406. It was however, quickly fixed by kind and helpful Mr Ny. - American breakfast comes with 2 eggs. I asked if it has to be 2 eggs of the same type or can we choose 1 each of different types (e.g. scrambled and poached which I ordered). Waitress said both are fine. Order came and only had 1 scrambled egg. Raised the issue to another waitress and no apology, just said 'Oh, you want *another* poached egg' when I didn't even get 1 in the first place. Eventually, the missing poached egg did come but the experience was unpleasant. May visit again if they fix the above issues.

I had a wonderful stay at Bayon Modern Residence and decided to stay an extra night. The reception staff were wonderful and helped me sort transport. Clean and spacious room and pool.

Bayon modern hotel is one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed No only is the layout and the swimming pool the best the staff were outstanding, kind and caring nothing was too much for them. They met our every request. Special thanks to our tuk tuk driver, Him, wonderful guy a real asset to the hotel and real ambassador for his wonderful country The behind the reception were wonderful as will. Thank you for making our stay so good
