4-Star Hotels in Shantou

We chose this hotel primarily for its proximity to the Shantou railway station. The night prior, we stayed at a nearby Hampton but had a disappointing experience, so this was our first stay with a local Chinese chain brand. Check-in was smooth and efficient, although no English was spoken at the front desk. We had requested a higher-floor, quieter room via WeChat in advance and were initially assigned Room 602. Upon entering, the room appeared clean and well-maintained. However, we encountered an unusual and inconvenient issue with the Wi-Fi. Guests are instructed to turn on the TV to access the Wi-Fi password, but we discovered that the TV must remain on in order for the Wi-Fi to function. This was confirmed by multiple staff members, including what appeared to be a front desk supervisor. This setup was quite disruptive, as the TV screen is bright and cannot be dimmed, and the work desk is positioned directly in front of it. To their credit, Ms. Lin—responded promptly and offered to move us to another room (also 602, but with a different layout). The new layout was more practical, with the desk positioned at a 90-degree angle from the TV, which helped mitigate the issue somewhat. That said, the second room had its own drawback: there was a noticeable gap in the window, which allowed in road noise. Since we stayed over the weekend, traffic noise and honking were quite noticeable at night. In addition, we heard neighbors chatting and laughing past midnight. Lotion could be a nice addition too. A small humidifier with scented oil definitely gave a zen touch. Aside from these two issues (Wi-Fi dependency on the TV and sound insulation), the overall stay was comfortable. As a gesture of goodwill, the hotel provided complimentary breakfast. While we are not typically breakfast eaters, we did try the noodle station. The offerings were entirely Chinese-style. One suggestion would be to label the protein options more clearly (in Chinese or English), as we observed multiple guests asking staff about them—one of which turned out to be pig’s heart. Overall, this was a good introduction to a Chinese domestic hotel brand. I learned that they got a few locations in Europe. While there are areas for improvement, particularly in technology setup and soundproofing, the service recovery effort and general room quality made for a satisfactory stay.

I don't think it should be ranked second; it absolutely deserves to be the number one luxury hotel in Shantou! Here's why: 1. **Exceptional Service:** Everyone, including the housekeeping staff, offered a consistently warm and attentive service with a smile. 2. **Impeccable Cleanliness:** The guest rooms were spotless, with not a speck of dirt or dust visible in any corner, even in the bathroom. The attention to detail here is truly impressive! 3. **Inviting Ambiance:** The hotel has a pleasant, signature scent that greets you upon entry, and it even makes you feel refreshed after your stay. 4. **Prime Location:** The hotel's location is excellent, and they even provide helpful maps for local food and attractions for guests. I'll definitely be recommending this hotel to everyone I know who plans to visit Shantou!

Stayed at Le Bai with my 6-year-old, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly towards my son. He really liked them! We didn't get a chance to take a photo together. Hengshan Road is right outside, with Zhujiang Road just around the corner, where we enjoyed beef hotpot, chee cheong fun, kway teow soup, spring chicken, and braised goose. The family room was clean, and they even helped with laundry. Our extended stay was very pleasant. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The hotel is wonderful, the service, the interiors, and literally everything. BUT. There are a few annoying little things: a corporate video with a song constantly plays in the elevator and lobby, and after several uses a day, it literally gets stuck in my head. It irritates me that someone is recording songs in my head without my knowledge. The light controls in the room are very inconvenient - they are very bright and turn on by themselves with the slightest movement. The bright light at night disrupts my sleep, and it literally irritates and infuriates me when it is constantly on. I am also irritated by the TV, which turns on every time I enter the room. I don't like any unnecessary details that disrupt my focus and distract me. I have to spend an extra action to find the remote and turn it off. Also, during cleaning, the staff throws away my disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste every day. This is yet another unnecessary action that I have to do to brush my teeth - open a new package, open a tube of toothpaste, and do this every day.

Honestly, the service was pretty mediocre, especially the laundry room attendant. She was incredibly chatty and constantly interfered with guests' personal matters. She told us not to dry our clothes for too long because they'd get damaged, then returned them before they were even dry – it was really baffling. Everything else was just okay.

This hotel offers excellent value for money. The room was clean and refreshing, and the mattress provided great support – I slept soundly until morning. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the facilities were comprehensive. There are plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options nearby, making getting around very convenient. The service was gentle and polite, and my overall experience was fantastic. I highly recommend staying here.

The service was terrible. We stayed for two days. When we checkin on the first day at around 4pm, the room was not clean up and they staff said they were very busy that day and asked us to wait at the lobby. On the second day, we came back at around 5pm after a whole day tour, the same situation happen. No housekeeping was done. Same excuse given to us . This is one of the worst accommodation I have stayed in China. The staff are not welcoming.

Days Inn By Wyndham Shantou Jinping. The Absolute Best Hub for a Chaoshan Food Hunt! Our holiday in Shantou was an incredible culinary adventure, and staying here made the entire trip seamless. The location is exceptionally convenient for food lovers. The hotel is located in between 2 highly rated nearby food streets, the Longyan South Road Food Street and Zhenbang Road Food Street, just a short walk away and absolutely packed with local flavor. We completely skipped the hotel dining because our sole mission was to eat street food. The absolute highlights of our trip were the highly raved-about Chaoshan beef hotpot and the famous local braised goose—both were incredibly delicious and easily accessible from the hotel! On top of the amazing dining, the area is perfect for shopping local specialities, and we managed to buy and bring home tons of fantastic dried seafood. The hotel itself provided a fantastic resting place. After a long day of walking and eating, coming back to a clean, comfortable, and modern room was exactly what we needed. The staff were very helpful, and the room amenities were excellent. If you are visiting Swatow for a food hunt and shopping spree, look no further than this hotel !

The hotel location is excellent, the room is spacious and bright, and the bathroom has no unpleasant odor. The shower water was hot enough and had good pressure. I slept soundly, feeling completely at ease.

Traveling to Shantou with kids by car, choosing the Golden Gulf Hotel was a brilliant decision! This established five-star hotel boasts an excellent location. We could walk to Long'annan Road food street and MixC shopping mall, making it incredibly convenient for enjoying beef hotpot and various Chaoshan snacks. The hotel has ample free parking, which was a huge plus for self-driving, no stress at all. Our room was clean and spacious, the bedding was comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, so the kids slept really well. The outdoor pool was a fantastic experience, with clean water, perfect for children to play in – just remember to bring swimsuits and caps! The breakfast offered authentic Chaoshan 'kway teow' and 'cheong fun', with a wide variety of flavors. The staff were gentle and polite. Overall, it was a calm and pleasant stay, offering great value for money for a family trip. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Shantou!
