A family oriented hotel so solo travelers might felt a bit ignored. Adding a coffee machine at the lobby would be very helpful.
They follow Japanese check in check out hours and also quite strict about it… I think that’s the biggest downside of the hotel. You will have to wait exactly after 3pm for the room and out in 11 even they are not full.
Otherwise the room and location is good, would recommend.

The men's sauna is very nice. We've tried the swimming pool and gym as well. The facilities are nicely maintained, totally worth the price. Upper level rooms do not have a bathtub, which is the only thing that we think is unfortunate during our stay, oh and the pillow service seems to be very limited, we started our night on Friday, but it was already rented out.

Although the room is not big, it is neat and clean

But the sound insulation is really bad
You can clearly hear conversations and door openings in the next room.
There will also be the sound of running water at the door, making it impossible to have a good rest and sleep.

There were few people at the counter. It took a while to make a reservation and check in! The breakfast is delicious ~ but the coffee is very sour... It is recommended that the coffee machine uses mixed beans/layered coffee beans to brew it manually. The food cooked by the machine is so sour and terrible.

I really feel from the bottom of my heart that the attitude of the service staff is very good. Different from the catering industry, I am really surprised that the hotel can have such good service (responding to spoken words and helping to press the elevator when passing by). The bed is also very big and comfortable. Recommended to relax!

Shangri-La Far Eastern Tainan was a very grand and pleasant hotel. The lobby had a beautiful Christmas tree and they let us check in early. There were 38 floors which was impressive and the room was big and bright. The beds were comfy and the TV had YouTube and Netflix with many other channels.
However, there was some dust on the cupboards and the sofa bed needed money to be turned into a bed. There were many food places near the hotel as well. But go to Anping, Garden night market or Da Tung night market need to take taxi.
Overall, Shangri-La Far Eastern Tainan was enjoyable for my family.

There are many kinds of breakfast. You have to wait a long time for the elevator!
Mechanical parking is the biggest inconvenience. The room decoration is free, but the facilities cannot be used after check-out. The swimming pool is a bit bright, it is much bigger in the photos, and I was a little disappointed when I arrived. Playroom perfect for preschoolers! Hair dryer and toiletries are very good.

GGuest UserThe transportation is convenient. Popular attractions such as Guohua Street and Shennong Street can be reached within a 10-minute walk. The transportation is also very convenient. The boss is super nice and willing to share his pocket list. We had a great time on the trip

GGuest UserSomer Hotel is a gem of a place to stay in Tainan. I stayed in two different rooms during my stay, one being the tatami room and one Western hotel style. Both were spacious, clean, and really comfortable. My favorite part was the snack and drink tray provided and refilled each night so that guests can try delicious ********* food. The breakfast provided was varied and delicious. You do have to reserve the time you want to eat, but that prevents long lines and crowding during the meal. The lounge where breakfast is served is also a nice place to hang out or do work outside of the hotel room. Other amenities like wifi and the bathroom products provided were great. Service was really good and the staff was extremely welcoming and helped us to call a taxi when we needed one. The hotel is in a great location and is easily walkable to historical landmark Chikan Tower and numerous restaurants and markets. I would definitely recommend Somer Hotel as a home base for exploring or even somewhere to take naps and relax while experiencing all the amazing food that Tainan has to offer.

GGuest UserThe pictures shown on trip.com was a trap in terms of its surrounding areas except the historical sites which were great to visit. However, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere and the view from my room window was a little depressing, with kind of concrete building and sort of coastal jungles. However, the hotel concierge desk with a particular mention of the two young people provided me with very personalised service, even suggesting me to bike ride to the areas and showing me with hospitality as to where to explore in the city. Overall, the stay was pleasant and the pool was beautiful to use.

GGuest UserLocation was inconvenient especially if you do not drive. The public transport is a bit far from the hotel. Taxi service not available for short distance. We took the taxi from the hotel to Chiayi HSR which cost NT1,200.
Guests stayed at the hotel only allowed one visit per stay per person. To fully enjoy all the facilities for both floors, it will take at least 3 hours. The swimming pool was closed for renovation.
Breakfast selection was rather disappointing.

The staff members' hospitality, understanding, and listening for their professional performance are the facts that need to be stressed.
The location in a giant sports park is desirable and attractive for the scenery. The pagoda beside the park is not frightening at all!
The cleanness of the room and restaurant is just lovely. I enjoy the choices in breakfast, and the chic environment is a plus for customers to try.

GGuest UserStrategically placed in the center of Tainan City, smack bang middle of the transportation hub. It is right behind the Main bus stations (North and South) which all buses in the city stop by (some start from those stations), so it would be very convenient for you to get around. As for the Train Station, it is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, which makes easier for people to travel further but still feel close enough to comeback. The hotel it self its pretty okay. The beds are clean and soft, they have a big bathroom, and spacious rooms for the most of it. For a budget hotel, i think its about worth it. The only downsides in my opinion are the windows, they layered them with black stickers and leave maybe a 10-20 cm gap that we can see through. Though it was buildings only buildings outside, feeling that you have more window view wouldn't be so bad. And the other thing, is the walls are a bit thinner, so it could not contain our noise neither our neighbours. Still, I understand that's a trade off. Overall, It's an okay place to stay.

CCuipingThis time I stayed in a standard quadruple room. The room was as large as the space displayed in the photos of the website. The toilet was also very large. There was also a bathtub for children to play with water. The shower head was water pressure enough and the water temperature was stable. The cleanliness of the room is also as clean and odorless as netizens say. As for sound insulation, we lived on the 7th floor and did not encounter problems with poor sound insulation.
There are water dispensers, coffee machines, tables, chairs, and sofas in the lobby on the first floor of the hotel. It is convenient to have dinner with friends when you come back from outside. The parking lot is very close and the nearby life function is convenient.
Trip.com After booking, we have a plus hotel Line. It is very convenient to contact directly if you have any questions before check-in. If there is any problem during the stay, the counter staff will kindly reply. A very warm hotel, and I will want to live in Tainan next time.

GGuest UserLove this place and the friendly owner/staffs, they provide us additional cup noodles in case the shops nearby close early due to New Year countdown celebration. They have been very patience with my queries as well and friendly to share what we can do in tainan also. it's a special vintage design room with spiral staircase up to the bed with TV. Not very soundproof since its a historic building. Lights can be controlled from the top as well. Toilet does not come with a door but there's curtain and bindings to roll down when in use. Location is pretty near Mazu Temple and guangong temple for people who want to visit and walkable distance of 10 to 15mins to Shen Nong Street.
Do visit hayashi department store which is also walkable from the stay and it's the first departmental store in TaiNan which I heard, it sells many interesting stuffs.

Front desk provides a good food map, and there are a free drinking water machine and a laundry room for guests to use. Hotel seemed busy, only suggestion: front desk staff could be more welcoming and smiley. Taiwan keeps the standard high.
