I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had anticipated, given that it is a 5-star hotel. Upon arrival, I was given a room that was different from the one I had booked (Metro Room instead of Superior double room). When I approached the front desk to address this issue, I was told it was a “free upgrade” which was not mentioned during check in. The front desk manager even mentioned that the metro room feels smaller and understands our concerns. Despite this, we decided not to request a room change since we were only there for two nights.
The front desk manager had a stern demeanor throughout our conversation, which made the experience even more unwelcoming. Later that night, we encountered another problem: the shower water would unexpectedly switch to scalding hot without any adjustments, and when we tried to cool it down, it turned ice cold. Additionally, the shower area had an old, musty smell, and the toilet seat has a yellowish hue that was quite unpleasant.
While the blackout curtains were effective in blocking light, they did not cover a specific part of the room, leaving us with an inconsistent sleeping environment.
I must say, the location of the hotel somewhat salvaged our experience, as it was conveniently situated. Moreover, the concierge staff were incredibly kind and helpful, assisting us with booking a taxi when we were leaving.
Overall, the hotel feels very dated and in need of significant renovations. I had hoped for a much better experience, especially given that this is a 5-star hotel, but sadly, it did not live up to expectations.
