Borgobrufa Spa Resort Adults Only

Situated in the heart of Umbria close to beautiful Assisi, Borgobrufa is a relaxing, well priced and maintained spa hotel ideal for anyone wishing to unwind and take it easy for a very days. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the place and I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere allowing guests to feel comfortable at all times - the heated (outdoor and indoor) pool was open until 7pm so perfect to spend some time there after having visited some town or city nearby. And actually Borgobrufa itself is just outside the lovely small town of Torgiano.

We had a fantastic week in Umbria @ Borgobrufa Resort! Location provided quick access to Assisi & Perugia. Property was well kept, great amenities, and food options. Only complaint would be the rooms did not capitalize on the views as they had limited windows.

Both the Luxury suite and Romantic suite were lovely. Special thanks to the restaurant staff for following my dietary need. Also the SPA staff was particularly welcoming to first timers. We live nearby and will return soon.

Fantastic staff, wonderful location, they went above and beyond. We extended our stay to experience more of the locations around it: Perugia is vibrant and wonderful atmosphere, Assisi is quiet, we explored wineries, truffle hunting, the Michelin reccomendations, the spa at the hotel is fantastic! From the wine tasting, to the dinner, to the spa, to the concierge, to the room....all INCREDIBLE! Mirco, Sara, Marco, Manuela and the entire team were beyond expectations!

We really enjoyed our stay at Borgobrufa. The spa was incredible along with the breakfast, dinner and wine. It is a true oasis.

We spent two weeks in Italy. Four days we spent here on advice of a friend. The location is lovely and the rooms are comfortable. That’s all positive I can say. The food at the restaurant was horrible and overpriced (actually the worst food of our entire trip). We ate there twice for dinner then gave up. Other than breakfast, the wait staff were inattentive. We weren’t even offered a wine list. The spa facilities other than the heated swimming pool are old and tired. The “relaxation” rooms are silly and were always empty. Luckily there was a lot to do in the area so we spent minimal time there. Definitely NOT five star.

This review is actually difficult to write. The property itself is located at a beautiful location. With that being said, the staff are not genuine and do not enforce "rules" consistently nor with any rhyme or reason. For instance we went down to the spa area to get a tour of what we could experience. We were not wearing the issued spa shoes, so we were not given a tour. Not even offered to use some spa shoes due to ours being in our room. Yet when we were in the spa for a pool visit, we saw no less than 3 couples being shown around wearing regular street shoes. Also people are not supposed to be talking on their phones or listening to audible music. At least two guests were when we were at the pool. Overall the spa is severely overpriced and overly hyped. Quite frankly it's not impressive. Along the lines of rules, men are are supposed to wear pants in the restaurant at dinner, yet I saw men wearing shorts. Also once again people were chatting on their phones. The breakfast was good, but dinner was a huge disappointment. We ate dinner twice. The food was indeed presented well. But the taste was lacking. During a four course dinner, my appetizer of fried cod was essentially room temperature as if it was cooked 10-15 min earlier. It was not of good quality taste either. The rest of my "hot" food for the 1st and 2nd courses were also NOT hot. My ravioli were warm at best. For my 2nd course only part of my pork dish was actually hot. And staff NEVER checked to see if the food was prepared properly or to your liking. My wife's one course was barely touched, not a single question was asked. Also we weren't even offered a wine list! we were shocked!!!!!!!!! The portion sizes are extremely small and over priced. One morning there was NO hot water. Called the front desk, they had someone to find what the problem was. Once it was fixed about 90 minutes later, they never called us to let us know. For the price we paid for the room ,they could've at least called us to let us know we had hot water again. They charge a flat fee of 30 Euros to charge an electric car each time. Our rental car was a plug in hybrid that had a small battery which could charge rather quickly. There was a language barrier. I was under the impression the fee to use the charger would be only 30 euros for our entire stay due to the battery not being for a fully electric car. That is not the case. Even for a fully electric vehicle, paying 30 euros is way too pricey. Depending where your room is located you have a long walk up or down ad very long walkway that is NOT level. IT's actually on a fairly steep incline/decline. Upon checkout they sent the person to help load bags to the wrong part of the hotel two times. I will discuss the staff last. The staff here pretends to act friendly. They seem very uptight and not at all genuine. Our entire stay here we did not feel like we could relax. Just back from a wonderful, relaxing week at the Borgobrufa, and I would like to thank all concerned for what proved to be as close to a perfect holiday as I could have possibly imagined. With so many highlights to choose from, I would just like to single out the professional and friendly manner of each and every member of staff. Thank you so much - we will be back!
