Had a lovely experience there tatami room and the nice sized rooms. Wish I had chose the food option but there were a few decent restaurants in the area. The private onsen was very nice and a bonus I lost almost 2 kilos just from using the onsen. It was great to wallk around the little town in wooden slippers and Yukata. Even spotted some of the Snow Monkeys in the town.

Very cool! I didn't find a parking lot, so my little brother picked me up from a far away place. I was really touched. The hotel has a private hot spring. With the key given by the hotel, you can also soak in nine hot springs on the hot spring street for free. Very close!

⭐Geographical location: Yudanaka Hot Spring is relatively close to Jigokudani Monuen, a 20-minute walk from the station. It should be noted that you can pick up the station before 5 pm. We arrived at 5:30, but the boss said we could not pick up. Although the distance is not long, it still takes a while to walk on the mountain road. You can also take a bus, which runs every half an hour. ⭐Service: There are two shopkeepers serving you, and their attitude is very good. They will help you deliver your luggage to the coffee shop next to the station when you travel the next day. It should be noted that if you check in after 3 pm, you will not be able to make calls in the morning. I left something in the room. No one answered the phone after three calls. In the end, I had to go to the store to get it again. ⭐Facilities: The room layout is relatively simple and the facilities are relatively simple. To be honest, the heating is relatively small and it is a bit cold at night. There is no shower room and toilet, and the sink only has cold water. Shower rooms and hot springs need to be charged separately, 500 yen. Public toilets (all small Japanese-style hotels are like this) are very clean, because there are few rooms and few guests, and you have never touched anyone else in the toilet. Anyway, the price/performance ratio is pretty good. ⭐Meals: Our order included dinner and breakfast, but the portions were small and not enough to fill us up. When we got out of the station, we had to remember to buy some food from Lawson. There are no convenience stores in the hot spring street! Mineral water is not provided, and there is an additional charge of +100yen. ⭐Hot spring: You can soak in 9 soups on the street, but there is only one key, so you have to go there separately. The private soup shop in the store is in B1. It is relatively simple, has a lot of moisture, and is not very clean. It is recommended to go to the public soup house. Although the boss said that there is no place to take a bath in the public bath, so you can only buy a private bath + shower, which is a bit embarrassing.

Absolute perfection. I felt genuinely touched by the heartfelt service provided by the innkeeper and her son. We felt welcomed and taken care of in their home. The room was spotless and you can feel the history and care of this 350 year old property. We understand the son is the 13th generation owner and the pride shows. This ryokan does not have the typical musty smell in other old buildings. Finally, the bath was great. Super hot water and clean. You are allowed to book a private session for the evening and morning you stay. Couldn’t have been more pleased, especially at the reasonable price offered.

The owners of this Onsen were thoroughly kind (even delivering our luggage to our next nearby hotel). We were so impressed by the warmth that Senshinkan Matsuya has both in the care and attention to detail, as well as the exceptional meals. We had two breakfasts and each was unique. The building is old but that is part of its charm... please note that guest rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor and the steps are steep. Although the bathroom is shared it has state of the art Toto toilets and is kept spotless. Now that we have seen some of the other Onsens in the area we can honestly say we loved their private tubs! ( you must reserve a time slot to have private use and they are offered at no extra cost.) The owners were helpful in making recommendations about nearby eateries and getting around town. Additionally by staying here you have access to a specific cluster of 9 other onsens. We loved this place and are already scheming about a return visit.

Wonderful stay here. The owners are friendly and very helpful! Very good service. They have 2 private onsen in the basement that are available to book at no extra charge. The rooms are tranquil and comfortable (traditional tatami) The breakfast was really enjoyable too. Stairs are quite steep- so keep that in mind if your mobility isn’t great

The staff was very courteous and welcoming, and when I needed to leave my bag someplace on my check out morning, they brought it to a convenient pick up point by the station. This made my day very easy to manage!

The Ryokan exceeded all expectations and was a wonderful experience! Located in the center of Shibu Onsen, it lets you live a true Japanese experience, starting by leaving your shoes at the entrance and providing you with everything you need to enjoy the Onsen to the fullest. The room and the whole structure are in true Japanese style, we even had a birch tree running through the room! I had some qualms about the shared toilet, but they are very clean and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The owner and all the staff have always been very kind and helpful and even took our backpacks to the Yudanaka station so that we could find them directly there after the visit to the snow monkeys park to which they personally accompanied us. I couldn't eat fish and they were kind enough to prepare special meals for me. Every meal was truly delicious, in every course, and we had the privilege of being able to have dinner and breakfast alone in our own room, really fantastic. The icing on the cake is that you can reserve one of the property's two private onsen for 50 minutes only and for free. I would recommend it to anyone, it was really a shame we couldn't stay longer. Thanks to the owner and all the staff for the experience they made us live!
