Everything exceeded expectations! The indoor bath in the room is great! The dinner was very rich and delicious! Overall very satisfied! Peaceful environment! The breakfast was a bit bland.

The staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall was very cozy, particularly the onsens. Although all the four onsens were opened for all guests at the hotel, you can use one of them as long as you want because guests are instructed to hang a sign on the onsen to show that it is currently occupied. This is a great way for the guests to enjoy privacy to themselves, although it is opened publicly. Dinner and breakfast was included in the package so we did not have to worry about finding nearby restaurants. The food was delicious here! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy traditional Japanese meals to get the full experience. We had a private barbecue for dinner, and it was truly immaculate! However, there was smoke all over the hotel lobby coming from the barbecue so it would have been better if they kept the windows opened. It was also indoors so it was slightly overwhelming with all the smoke everywhere in the restaurant. But everything else was on point and breakfast was particularly delicious.

It sounds like you had an amazing experience at that hostel! Here's a slightly polished version of your review:
If you're looking for a budget-friendly hostel with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to be. The owner couple is incredibly friendly and makes you feel at home right away. I was greeted by a new roommate and the owner even took us on a night tour to Kinrin Lake and Floral Village, which was such a lovely surprise. The breakfast is absolutely delicious, and the couple’s romantic gesture of singing a beautiful thank-you song before you leave just adds a special touch. Their voices are stunning, and it truly makes you want to return

The waiter at the hot spring hotel is very attentive. After arriving at the hotel, the waiter will lead you to the room where you are staying. The waiter will explain the hotel facilities in detail, including the opening hours of the outdoor hot spring, meal arrangements, etc. Bob, the waiter who received us, spoke very fluent English, was attentive to arrangements, and had a friendly smile, which made people feel very relaxed and natural. The waiters here understand Mandarin and have no problem communicating. The room I booked this time is equipped with an independent bath, which is semi-open-air. You can see the outdoor scenery. The water quality and temperature are very good, and it feels very good. In addition to enjoying the hot spring in my room, I also soaked in the public hot spring in the hotel. There is an outdoor and an indoor hot spring. There are time limits. Although the hot spring is not too big and can accommodate 6 people each, there was no one during the time I soaked. Maybe Let’s all enjoy the bath in the room. However, I recommend that you book a room with an independent hot spring bath, because you can soak in the hot spring at any time. There are not many rooms here, and they are highly private, so you can enjoy a peaceful a**osphere. I booked a stay with two meals. This meal is mainly fish. In addition to raw fish and grilled fish, friends who like to eat fish should not miss it.

The beautiful environment, the eye-catching is the gorgeous red maple. The service is nothing to say, the package dinner is served in the villa, before confirming whether there are taboos or food allergies, different dishes every day, you can also ask for 5A beef hot pot (additional money is required). The breakfast is served in a large restaurant, and it is also a private room. The decoration is very Zen-like. The taste is even better, and the style is too much to eat. The room is a two-storey villa, each with a different but private soup, a great hotel!

The service staff helped us take our luggage from the car to the room, and served ice cream and green tea when we checked in. Full marks for service!
The room is large and includes a private bath. The hot spring water is slippery and makes sleeping very peaceful at night. The outdoor bath in the large bath is super beautiful and comfortable.
The hotel provides socks, skin cleansing cream, bathrobes, reusable bags, etc., all free of charge
This room type is only 1,700 yuan, which is more than 4,000 yuan in the past. The price-performance ratio is extremely high!
I will definitely book this hotel again next time I come! Highly recommended!

The onsen and food were excellent. Rooms were also spacious and well laid out. My only complaint is the staff could have been more flexible with their service. For instance, our party had six people spread across three rooms. We could not dine together because the table seating limit was four. So we had to split up the family to accommodate the hotel, instead of the hotel accommodating us. Unfortunately this is sometimes the norm for traveling in Japan.

There are fewer public places than expected. Apart from the building and your own room, there is basically no place to go and do activities. The environment is beautiful, but the service is not too superior. There are many children and customers, which is a bit too lively. The room amenities are very basic.

We chose this gorgeous Ryokan because after backpacking in Japan for a month we felt like a treat to end our trip. It was a beautiful place to reflect upon our adventures. We hired a car so that we could explore the region and go into town when ever we wanted to (it’s located approximately 3km out of town up a hill). We bought a bottle of wine and snacks in the local supermarket and enjoyed a glass each evening in the garden. Sadly we were unable to experience their restaurant as they had not seen our email requesting this; however we found a some cute restaurants and cafes ate there instead. The hot springs really were 🥵 but great for our aches. Highly recommend as a beautiful private place to reconnect with your loved ones. It would be an amazing place for a wedding as everyone would be together and the gardens are so tranquil.

Outstanding
PPriscillaWe had a great 2 nights stay at this Ryokan. Location was near Yufuin Floral Village, and around 20 mins walk from Yufuin JR station. It was a nice walk to Yufuin JR station as there were many shops and eateries that you can visit along the way. Alternatively, there is also bus 36 from Yufuin but terminal that would stop near to the ryokan.
The staff were really outstanding, friendly and helpful. When we arrived, a couple of them rushed to help us with our luggage and to also shelter us from the rain. During the entire stay, they made us feel very welcomed.
The Western/Japanese room that we booked was very spacious and had all the amenities we required. Note that this is a 2 storey living area - level 1 had a bathroom with private indoor and outdoor onsen as well as the living room, while level 2 had a toilet (w/o bath) and 1 western bedroom as well as 1 Japanese bedroom.
There are 4 public onsen in the ryokan. 2 for female and 2 for male. They would rotate it during the day and night to allow everyone to try out the different onsen.
We also had our breakfast and dinner at the ryokan as part of the package. The dishes were different on both days. The spread was huge and food tasted great. Note that there are very few places open at Yufuin during dinner time.
GGuest UserIt takes about 15 minutes to walk to Yufuin Bus Station. It was difficult to move with a carrier. There were many traffic lights on the way and the car passed right next to me, so it was difficult with a carrier. ㅠㅠ But Yufuin-tei's bedding was clean and it was nice that there was a private hot spring. There were hardly any people in the hot spring, so it was very convenient to use. There was a smoking area at the check-in area, so it smelled a bit of cigarette smoke. The service was friendly, but it was a shame that there were no Korean-speaking staff. There was nothing to eat for dinner except steak. The breakfast was very delicious.
AACNFOur ryokanl booking came with sukiyaki dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed the dinner very much but had to skip the breakfast due to our tight schedule. The ryokan had a cosy atmosphere, almost as if like we were staying at a good friend's house. There were a few cute and friendly cats which were mostly hanging around the courtyard and reception area. Nice onsen private onsen baths.
Wished that the ryokan had provided luggage stands for us to put our luggages instead of us having to place our luggages on the floor and on the sofa.
SSpirit_stoneVery nice well kept traditional ryokan. If you are expecting modern do not stay here. Hotels like these are older and have been around for many years but are well maintained.
I love sleeping on tatami - I slept for 10 hours!
Unfortunately I felt a bit dumbfounded when the dinner included is just ramen. On the trip.com photos there are two photos of meals and I assumed one was dinner and the other breakfast. Maybe this use to be the case but trip/ the hotel should specify better what is being served. Especially in small towns there aren’t many dinner options - there is an Aeon (supermarket) a short walk of course if you’d like a bento dinner instead.
Also no wifi in the room. As an international traveler I had to up my esim data for the day. They don’t advertise wifi in the room - they have it in the lobby so it wouldn’t be hard to get an extender to the rooms.
The onsen was nice however I found the outside onsen made a lot of noise- I’ve been to many onsen and this was the first that ever made noise from the filter so it wasn’t as relaxing as it could have been.
Overall decent stay but probably wouldn’t go back
GGuest UserAs most commenters said, the facility and furniture are indeed with certain ages. Location is good and window outside view is fabulous. The staff are nice except one male reception staff is a bit severed, he insisted the breakfast last order is 8:00am as both dinner and breakfast are sets for each person and well prepared on the table before your scheduled time. It is too early compares to global standard especially for a family with a 5 years old child,we were trying to require for the later timeframe but he shaked his head with no further assistance, while by next morning I saw there was another table guests arrived after 8:20am but their meal is also well-prepared on the table awaits for them. The food is very Japanese local style, fresh and special with different spices, good for a try
GGuest UserSet naYa on Google map. After arriving, walk 20 meters ahead and you will find Yangguang'an B&B. You do not need to install the APP on your mobile phone. You can directly call the B&B customer service to confirm the PIN code. You will get a set of *xxxxx* room unlocking passwords. After entering, follow the The tablet instructs you to complete the Visit Japan check-in.
The room is spacious, the bedding has no odor, and the hygienic environment is good. TV, refrigerator, microwave, IH stove, electric kettle, pots, and tableware are all available. Washing, drying, washing machine, laundry detergent, and hair dryer are very convenient to use by yourself. It is very convenient to be able to take a bath 24 hours a day.
GGuest UserFirst of all, I was very satisfied with the location! It was nice that it was close to Yufuin Station and the bus terminal haha.
And the owner was friendly and could communicate in English, so I was guided well!
Above all, I went because of the hot springs, but they said that the family baths can only be used if a “child” is included..! We couldn't use the family bath because it didn't meet the requirements, so we used the public bath. However, since the public bath is only used by ryokan guests, we were satisfied that our family could use it almost privately for two days. In particular, I brought a grandmother in her 80s with me and she really enjoyed it!
I requested breakfast, and I was able to choose between 8:00 and 8:30, and it was a really neat and clean Japanese home-cooked meal! I stayed for two days and was satisfied with the different types of side dishes and drinks. It seemed like they paid a lot of attention to hygiene, and I felt like I was treated well, so it was a really nice place to stay.
Next time I go to Yufuin, this is a place I want to stay again! ☺️
KKingThis is the first time I went to Yufuin. Although the hotel is a bit old, the service is very warm and caring. I will consider staying in the next time. Advantages: 1. The room is huge. Two large suitcases are definitely enough in the room, and there is also room for dining tables and chairs, which is quite spacious. 2. The service is very attentive and enthusiastic! . The one who brought us to the room was a Chinese employee who worked in Japan. He was very enthusiastic and introduced us to all the nearby attractions. I would like to give a praise! And we had to catch an intercity bus the next day, so it was very hurried, and the staff dispatched an RV to take us there! (Not booked before) In the end, they were all in a hurry, thank you very much for their help! 3. There are family hot springs, very intimate! There are public hot springs in the hotel, but there are also family hot springs (2, first-come-first-served), which are very well designed, which makes the family feel very private. 4. Food and souvenir street are just outside the door. There are several well-known wagashi shops at the door of the hotel, and the whole street is full of souvenir shops, shopping is very convenient. Disadvantages: 1. It is far from Yufuin JR Station. The hotel is near Teshin Street, but it is quite far away from Yufuin JR Station. It takes almost 25 minutes to walk, and it will be a bit difficult to drag a suitcase. 2. Older facilities in the room. The hotel should be quite old, so the facilities in the room are relatively old, but it is still very clean. It may be that the style of the hotel follows the ancient British style, and the room lighting is dark
AAnonymous UserThe accommodation is beautiful, the surrounding atmosphere is good, and there is an onsen hot spring to soak in. The food is delicious. **But what I am not very impressed with is the control of other service providers. Mostly, 99% on the day I stayed were Koreans who were not very polite. They did not know even the etiquette and rules of using the public hot spring. I am not sure if the owner of the accommodation has informed the rules of using the hot spring, which is something I cannot accept. They were loud, threw the earbuds on the floor, and were not orderly. They also wore shoes in the common area of the dressing room in the hot spring. I was very disappointed. It was a rather disappointing vacation, even though it should have been a good day for me. I lost the mood to soak in the atmosphere. I did not even have the heart to take pictures of the atmosphere with the accommodation.
