I drove up from Munduk at 07:30, the road along the lake rim is two-lane fog with moss on the guard-stones 2 cm thick, 16°C, a Balinese myna in the cacao. The swing platforms (bird-nest, teacup, 15 m rope swing) face the twin lakes; I paid 50k IDR, shot 20 min before the 09:00 tour buses, then walked 100 m down to a warung on the north edge — kopi luwak 60k IDR, a 35k IDR pisang goreng, the moss on the warung's plank wall wet from the 07:00 cloud. Below, Buyan's surface was flat green, Tamblingan hidden in mist. Mistake: I came at 10:30 once — 200 people queuing for the swing, 40 min per photo; 07:30–08:30 only. If human can’t make you happy, go book yourself a trip to Lovina and watch the dolphins swim and flips happily. The look out for them begins as early as 6am, depending on your boat. We booked ours from the hotel but if you check in today and have a buffer of the whole evening maybe for you then you might want to book straight from the local boat. They usually will linger around your hotel in the evening to give you the offer. Private boat will cost you IDR500k which is triple what you pay at the hotel. So my take is get it from the local and you can save that extra money and treat yourself a spa day! Was it great? YES DEFINITELY! But must be patient because everyone is looking for the same group of dolphins and i think there must be like hundreds of boat out there searching for it. We were very lucky because out boatman really look for it and he makes couple of round up and down in order for us to get to see the dolphins clearly. We are pretty much happy and satisfied and pray for the dolphins to stay safe and healthy.
