Recommended visit time: 1–1.5 hours. 2. Qicheng Cultural Relics Scenic Area (Admission: CNY 30💰) A thousand-year-old city site where feudal lords held alliances during the Spring and Autumn period🌾. During the day, browse intangible cultural heritage shops, take photos in Hanfu, and experience folk culture. At night, the lights are brilliant, the evening breeze is gentle, and the night scenery is incredibly atmospheric. Spent 5 days in Puyang this fall ✨ no letdowns I stayed in Puyang for five full days this autumn. I didn't have high expectations, but the trip ended up being a pleasant surprise! There were no huge crowds, and you get the ancient city, autumn scenery, and historical sites all in one place. I'm sharing my personally tested, no-fail guide for anyone planning to visit 📝 🍂Must-see spots & highlights 1. Pushui Town A relaxed town full of traditional charm, and there's no admission fee. In autumn the leaves turn yellow, and the old streets lined with golden ginkgo trees are extremely photogenic. There are lots of snack shops and traditional courtyards. When the lanterns light up at dusk, the atmosphere becomes magical. Great for a slow stroll and casual eating, no rush required 2. Qicheng relics park ✨ A must-visit in Puyang! Ruins of an ancient city from the Spring and Autumn period, with large sections of old earthen walls. The park has towering ancient trees and turns golden in autumn, and it's quiet with few visitors. It's a free historic park where you can walk and learn about the history of the Wei state—perfect for autumn wandering and photos 3. Park of China's first dragon site The birthplace of dragon culture in China, where the famous clam-sculpted dragon was unearthed. The exhibition hall is small but historically important. If you want to understand Puyang, you should visit here. You can see close-up replicas of artifacts and feel the ancient Yangshao culture—history lovers shouldn't miss it 4. Longhu Park (Longhu Lake) A local favorite and a hidden autumn gem, this is a very large urban lake. The lakeside path is long, and in autumn the dawn redwood and ginkgo trees change color while reed beds sway in the wind. You can bike or walk around the lake and watch the sunset. It's a free, open park and looks stunning at dusk 5. Dangua revolutionary site A red historic village with old siheyuan courtyards, blue bricks, and gray tiles. The courtyard trees turn golden in autumn. The site is well preserved, quiet, and free to visit—ideal for slowly viewing the exhibits and feeling the history 🗓 Classic itinerary | 5 days, 4 nights ✅ Day 1: Arrive in Puyang, visit Qicheng relics park in the afternoon for autumn scenery, go to Pushui Town at dusk to see the night view and try snacks, overnight in the city ✅ Day 2: Visit the Park of China's first dragon site, ride around Longhu Park in the afternoon and wait for the lakeside sunset, overnight in the city ✅ Day 3: Visit the Dangua revolutionary site, stroll through the old village and courtyards to soak up the old-time vibe, return to the city in the evening for local food ✅ Day 4: Drive to Banjia Town for a leisurely visit, check out nearby rural autumn scenery and experience northern Henan village life ✅ Day 5: Relax in the city, stroll the old streets, buy souvenirs, return after lunch ⏰ 3-day, 2-night quick version (copy this if you're short on time) D1 Qicheng relics park + Pushui Town night view; D2 Park of China's first dragon site + Longhu Park; D3 Dangua site, hit all the highlights ⚠️ Travel pitfalls to avoid — tips from someone who's been there 1. Pushui Town gets crowded on holidays and has many snack stalls. Compare a few vendors before buying—some items are overpriced, so don't buy just because you see them. The night view is nice, but don't come too late as some shops close early 2. Qicheng park is a free public park. Don't trust people at the entrance offering paid guided tours—there are simple signs inside and self-guiding is enough. In autumn there are more plants, so bring insect repellent 3. The Park of China's first dragon site is closed on Mondays! Don't go on a Monday and find it closed—check opening hours before you go. The exhibition is not large; 1–2 hours is enough, you don't need to reserve a whole day 4. Longhu Park is very large! Don't try to walk the whole thing—rent a shared bike and ride around the lake for the best experience. The lakeside wind is stronger than in the city, and evenings cool down quickly in autumn 5. The Dangua site is a bit far from the city center and public transport is inconvenient—prioritize driving or taking a taxi, as buses take a long time 6. Most attractions are concentrated in the city while peripheral spots are spread out, so relying solely on buses is not recommended—taxis offer better value 7. Don't buy so-called local specialties at attraction entrances—prices tend to be higher. If you want souvenirs, go to a local supermarket 💡 Practical tips 🍁 Clothing: Puyang has a big temperature gap between day and night in autumn—warm during the day but chilly in the early morning and evening. Wear a thin long-sleeve + jacket. For the best autumn colors, visit mid to late October–November 🍜 Must-try foods: Puyang guo liangpi, zhuang mo, Puyang huimian, beef with pickled peppers, jiao mo. Small shops in the old city often taste better than trendy stores—be sure to try authentic guo liangpi 🏨 Accommodation: Stay in downtown Puyang for easy access to dining, shopping, and transport—no need to stay out near the small towns 🎫 Tickets: Qicheng, Longhu, and Dangua are all free; the Park of China's first dragon site is free with reservation, so overall costs are very low ✨ Tip: Don't miss the Longhu sunset on a clear autumn evening—the lake with golden trees makes every photo look great 📝 Trip summary Puyang is a low-key small city in northern Henan with no overhyped attractions, but it's comfortable thanks to the lack of crowds and low costs. It combines ancient prehistoric culture with stunning autumn nature, so you can see the ancient city, lake, and relics in one trip. No need for a military-style rush—take it slow, enjoy local snacks, and it's perfect for a short weekend escape. This was the core command center of the Jilu-Yu border region during the War of Resistance. Veteran revolutionaries like Deng Xiaoping and Song Renqiong led the anti-Japanese struggle here. The first “Gailiang” Type 92 infantry cannon in our military’s arms history was born here. After visiting 23 revolutionary sites, head to the memorial hall to see the special exhibition on the war history. Nearly 10,000 square meters of displays include wartime machinery and soldiers’ belongings. Standing inside the old earthen house, you can almost hear the training slogans from back then. ⚠️ The park is free to enter. Free guided tours depart on the hour. Following the guide reveals many true stories not found in textbooks. Noon: At the farmhouse next to the site, order the large bone pot (58 yuan per serving, stewed until the meat falls off the bone and full of flavor) and Qingfeng steamed jelly (18 yuan per plate, chewy and springy). Add two bowls of millet porridge. Two people can eat for under 90 yuan and feel completely full. Afternoon: Qingfeng folk museum (recommended 2 hours) A 20-minute drive from Dangui. The museum houses old items from Qingfeng from the late Qing dynasty to now, including old spinning wheels, farming tools, and sewing machines from the 1980s, all displayed densely. There is a live demonstration of wheat straw painting by an intangible cultural heritage inheritor. For 10 yuan, you can buy a ready-made small pendant. ⚠️ You can try paper cutting for free inside. You can take your finished work home, making a perfect souvenir. Evening: Return to the old town to visit the night market. The must-try is Qingfeng wrapped cold noodles, 6 yuan each, filled with cucumber shreds, gluten, and sesame paste. One bite is refreshingly cool and cuts through greasiness. Then have a bowl of almond tea for 5 yuan. You can eat your fill for 20 yuan. The night market also sells handmade cloth shoes for 30 yuan a pair. The soft soles make walking very comfortable. 📅 Day 2: Slow walk through thousand-year-old charm, with ancient streets hiding centuries-old cultural heritage. Nearby, elders sing Henan opera in the small square. For 5 yuan, you can sit and listen all morning, which is very relaxing. ⚠️ Free Qingfeng filial culture booklets are available at the entrance. The folk stories inside are very interesting. Noon: At the old noodle restaurant next to Qingfeng pavilion, a bowl of lamb noodle soup costs 12 yuan. The broth is made by simmering lamb bones overnight until rich and milky white. Eat it with free pickled garlic. Drinking the soup and noodles warms you up completely. The main hall was built during the Ming dynasty Chenghua period and is the only surviving main building of Puzhao Temple. Inside are statues of the three Buddhas and the eighteen Arhats, solemn and dignified. The courtyard has several hundred-year-old locust trees. Sitting under the trees in summer, the rustling leaves in the breeze feel even better than air conditioning. ⚠️ The temple offers free incense. You don’t need to buy expensive incense from vendors at the entrance. Evening: Try Qingfeng’s specialty “eight big bowls” local home-style dishes. All local restaurants can make them. A small portion costs about 40 yuan per person. Morning: Dunqiu farm (recommended 3 hours) It’s the summer-autumn harvest season. Grapes, pears, and peaches are ripe. Entry is 20 yuan per person for all-you-can-eat. If you want to take fruit home, it’s priced by weight and cheaper than supermarkets. The farm also has a small zoo where you can feed lambs and rabbits, making it great for kids. ⚠️ Don’t pull fruit branches hard when picking. Follow the farmers’ guidance to pick the sweetest fruit. Noon: At the farm, order freshly picked cold cucumber salad (10 yuan) and iron pot stewed native chicken (68 yuan per chicken). All ingredients are grown and raised on the farm, incredibly fresh. The vegetation attracts many mosquitoes. Don’t forget a sun hat. No paid guides are needed at any attractions. Free guided tours are enough, so don’t waste money. Puzhao Temple is a religious site. Dress modestly when visiting.

#SeptemberGoodPlaces2025 This memorial hall in Jinzhong is tranquil yet profound. Its brick and wood structure bears witness to the turbulent years of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The Senate once convened here, and countless revolutionary martyrs strategized and strategized here, leaving behind a precious legacy. Entering the hall, the walls covered with photos and documents transport one instantly back to that era of war. Here, I felt not only the weight of history but also a profound spiritual awakening. The simple conference tables and chairs bear witness to the resolve of a group of people who cared about the world; the yellowed manuscripts reveal the strength of perseverance in the face of adversity. As I exited the memorial hall, the sunlight shone brightly before me, and an inexplicable emotion welled up in my heart—it is precisely because of the perseverance and sacrifice of our predecessors that we enjoy the peace we enjoy today.

A Visit to the Revolutionary Site of Danguai, Puyang My New Year’s gathering with Brother Bin was supposed to end on the 1st, but people in love always want to spend more time together, so we decided to extend our sweet time together by two days. After having lunch with Brother Bin’s family, we went to the Danguai Revolutionary Site to explore the red mark unique to Puyang and listen to the echoes of that magnificent history. 1. Preparation · Scenic Area Information: As a national 4A-level tourist attraction, the Danguai Revolutionary Site has a profound historical background. Its opening hours vary with the seasons: 8:30–17:30 in the off-season, 8:00–18:00 in the peak season, and 8:00–16:30 in the winter. It is worth mentioning that the scenic area is open to the public for free, so more people have the opportunity to learn about this history. · Transportation Guide: If you depart from Puyang City, you can take Bus 31 directly to the site. Visitors from Qingfeng County can take Bus 5 to the site. The transportation is very convenient, and it is also very convenient to park if you drive. We parked our car in the village. 2. Tour Route · Red Classic Exploration Tour: When you enter the scenic area, the first thing you see is the Memorial Hall of the Revolutionary Base of the Jilu-Yu Border Region. The rich and diverse historical pictures, detailed and precious documents, and revolutionary relics that have withstood the test of time are displayed one by one, vividly recreating the magnificent chapter of the army and people of the Jilu-Yu Border Region fighting bravely and fearlessly in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation. We deeply appreciate the great sacrifices and unremitting efforts made by our ancestors for the cause of national liberation. Leaving the memorial hall, we walked along the winding path to the Revolutionary Site of the Central Plains Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Every brick, tile, table, and chair here seems to be silently telling the story of the years when the leaders of the bureau commanded battles and planned strategies here. We seem to be able to see their busy and determined figures writing the chapter of revolution on this land. Next, we entered the Revolutionary Site of the Northern Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which witnessed the glorious history of Deng Xiaoping, the acting secretary of the Northern Bureau, leading the army and people of the border region to resist foreign enemies and build a base. Every corner exudes a strong sense of history, which makes people feel admiration. The last stop was the site of the arsenal, which was formerly the Chen Family Ancestral Hall in Danguai Village, built in the first year of the Xianfeng period. Here, the production equipment, process flow, and weapons and ammunition produced by the arsenal are displayed one by one, allowing us to see the difficulties and hardships of military production in the border region and deeply appreciate the great spirit of our ancestors who still adhered to their beliefs and were self-reliant under difficult conditions. · Celebrity Footprint Tour: We first visited Deng Xiaoping’s former residence. The simple furnishings in the house allowed us to feel the details of Deng Xiaoping’s work and life in Danguai Village up close. It was as if we could see him working day and night under the dim light for the development of the border region. Then, we visited the former residences of Song Renqiong, Huang Jing, Yang Yong, Su Zhenhua, Cao Lihuai, and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation. As we walked among them, the noble revolutionary spirit of the older generation of revolutionaries came to us. The traces of life they left on this land were like bright stars, illuminating our way forward and making us feel a deep respect for them. 3. Danguai on the Tip of the Tongue On the road to food exploration, we tasted local specialties such as cold noodles and Qingfeng hot and cold dishes. What impressed me most was the spiciness of the mustard that went straight to my nose. I heard that Qingfeng pig’s trotters are famous, but unfortunately, we were in a hurry and didn’t have time to taste them, which was a little regretful. If you have high expectations for food, the city center may be a better choice. Like us, we finally chose to go back to Wanda Plaza in Puyang for dinner, where the environment is more comfortable and there are many choices. 4. Accommodation Experience Although the surrounding farmhouses have a rural flavor, the accommodation conditions are relatively simple. After careful consideration, we returned to the Yuelai Hotel, where we stayed on New Year’s Eve, to renew our stay. I still remember the warm and thoughtful service of the hotel on New Year’s Eve, which made us feel very comfortable. To avoid a bad accommodation experience, we chose this hotel again without hesitation. 5. Visit Experience The biggest feeling of this trip to Danguai is that it is a niche and quiet place, but it has great historical significance. When we walked among the well-preserved revolutionary sites, it was as if we had traveled through time and space and returned to the era of war and smoke. Every inch of land and every building here is like a vivid history book, and every page is engraved with the magnificent epic written by our ancestors with their blood and lives. During the visit, if conditions permit, you might as well hire a guide. Their vivid and detailed explanations will reveal the historical background and touching stories behind each place, allowing you to have a deeper and more comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the revolutionary history of the Memorial Hall of the Revolutionary Base of the Jilu-Yu Border Region. As the whole trip came to an end, we were deeply moved and realized how hard it was to win the victory of the Chinese revolution. Everything we saw and heard along the way reminded us to cherish the hard-won peace and tranquility of the present, inherit the revolutionary spirit of our ancestors, and forge ahead on the journey of the new era.
