☑️A unique place near Murō-ji Temple in Uda City, Nara Prefecture, where nature and art blend seamlessly. There are vending machines, but no cafes. ☑️Pets are allowed, and you can bring your own food and drinks. Some people were using it like a picnic. Be careful, as it gets hot in the summer. ☑️Admission fee: 410 yen for adults (200 yen for high school students, free for junior high school students and younger). Cash only. Opening hours: April-October (10:00-17:00) March, November, December (10:00-16:00) Closed: Every Tuesday (If Tuesday is a public holiday, the following day) and December 29th-end of February Payment method: Cash only 2026.9 I went there to walk my pet. I visited on a weekday, so there weren't many tourists. There were a few people taking pictures and families with children. The park paths are well-maintained, and there are few insects. It's a place where you can enjoy vast, quiet nature. There are various monuments of all sizes, making it a great place for young children to have fun and for taking photos. Since it's a large grassy area, it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter, so it's best to visit in spring or autumn. #NaraTourism #NaraTravel #UdaCity #Park #MurosanjoParkArtForest #PetFriendly #PetFriendly

2026.9 ☑️A small temple tucked away in the mountains of Uda City. It is famous for the red spider lilies that bloom on both sides of the stone steps. Pet-friendly—you can even bring your pets into the temple grounds. ☑️Free parking is available for about 10 cars. Be careful as the roads leading there can be quite narrow. While viewing the famous red spider lily staircase is free, admission to the temple itself is 300 yen. ☑️The peak bloom for red spider lilies is short, usually lasting only about a week to ten days. I spotted some red spider lilies in town and decided to visit Butsuryu-ji, one of Nara's most famous spots for them. The roads are narrow, so use caution if you're driving a large vehicle. I arrived around noon under cloudy skies and found only about three parking spots left. There is a fairly long staircase with red spider lilies blooming on both sides. At the top sits a small temple that you can enter for 300 yen. The entire area, including the lily-lined stairs, is pet-friendly for walks. Since tourists arrive almost constantly, it's quite difficult to snap a photo of the stairs without anyone in it. Also, be aware that there are no restaurants, vending machines, or convenience stores nearby.

📍 Murou Art Forest, Uda, Nara, Japan ✨ Review Murou Art Forest was completely different from the usual sightseeing spots in Nara. Instead of simply looking at artworks, I got to walk through a beautiful forest where the landscape itself becomes part of the art. The huge sculptures blend naturally into the greenery, with winding paths, water, stone, and open spaces creating a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere. My favorite spots were the Spiral Waterway and Pyramid Island—both looked completely different depending on the angle and light. What I liked most was the feeling of discovering each artwork while walking. There was no rush, just fresh air, greenery, and interesting scenery around every corner. 🌿 The park was designed by sculptor Dani Karavan, and the entire space feels like one giant landscape sculpture. (宇陀市) It was quiet, refreshing, and definitely one of those places that looks even better in person than in photos. 💡 Tips ✔️ Wear comfortable shoes for walking. ✔️ Bring a camera—the scenery is incredibly photogenic. 📸 ✔️ Admission is ¥410 for adults; children up to junior-high age are free. (宇陀市) 👉 Art, forest, water, and fresh air all in one place. This was a surprisingly refreshing side of Nara. 🌿🎨✨ #japan #japantrip #nara #해외여행 #여행계획 #일본여행 #trip #tripmoments #travel #travel2026 #traveljapan #murouartforest

"Wabichabi" offers a delightful chazuke experience housed in a historic, traditional Japanese home in the Uda Matsuyama area. You'll find the restaurant nestled behind Manpoji Temple, just across the river along the road leading to the main gate of the prefectural Uda High School Ouda Campus ✍️ Here, you can indulge in chazuke and sweets crafted with an abundance of local Nara ingredients, including Uda's premium "Udari Beef," locally grown rice, Yamato vegetables, and Yamato tea 🍚 This time, I ordered the "Wabichabi Set," which comes with chazuke, your choice of drink, and a sweet treat. I opted for the Udari Beef chazuke, paired with a hot cup of Karigane tea and a matcha gateau chocolat ✨️ The Udari Beef is lightly seared on the outside to lock in its savory umami. Start by enjoying it as is, then halfway through, pour the rich kelp and bonito broth over it to enjoy it as chazuke. Fresh condiments like shiso leaves and sudachi citrus add a bright, refreshing touch that is absolutely delicious 🥳 One of the coolest features is the "choose your own teapot" style. You can pick your favorite teapot from the beautiful display on the wall shelves to pour your broth. It’s so much fun to handle unique teaware from all over Japan ☺️ The matcha gateau chocolat for dessert was moist and rich. It had a wonderful matcha flavor without being overly intense, making it very enjoyable. Naturally, pairing it with the Karigane tea resulted in an ultimate tea-lover's experience. Highly recommended for tea enthusiasts 🍵 Besides the Udari Beef, you can also choose chazuke topped with sea bream, salmon & avocado, or seasonal specials. Served alongside five seasonal side dishes, it makes for a vibrant and satisfying meal perfect for lunch ✨ ⁡⁡【 𝕀𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 】⁡ 📍 56-1 Hasama, Uda City, Nara Prefecture 🚶 About a 10-minute walk from Roadside Station Udaji Ouda 🕚 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM 🗓 Irregular holidays 🅿️ Available ⁡.⁡ ⁡.

When you think of summer in Nara, night illumination events and outdoor activities in rivers and mountains usually come to mind. But another great attraction is enjoying the breathtaking views of magnificent dams and dam lakes. ✨️ There's more to dams than meets the eye—their designs and structures vary widely depending on their purpose. The sight of a massive concrete structure suddenly emerging in a lush, green valley is truly spectacular! 👀 To help people learn more about them, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the Japan Water Agency have been distributing "Dam Cards" to visitors since 2007. You can collect these cards at over 830 locations nationwide, including 15 spots right here in Nara! Each card is packed with everything from basic stats to incredibly niche details, making them a fun and educational souvenir. ✍️ Today, we’re highlighting some dams where you can get these cards, along with their distribution spots. It’s a perfect idea for a summer vacation science project, so grab the family and head out on a scenic road trip to explore them! 🚗³₃ ⚠️ Most Dam Card distribution locations have parking, but some dams lack parking near the main embankment. If you go for a look, please pay attention to signs and be mindful of passing cars and pedestrians. ⚠️ For dams with multiple distribution points, we’ve listed one primary location. Please check the official MLIT Dam Card page for details on other spots. ✍️ While you cannot actually visit Seto Dam (Totsukawa Village), you can still pick up its card at the Totsukawa Village Tourism Association. Takayama Dam (Tsukigase) is excluded from this list as it falls within the Kyoto area. ✍️ The distribution spot for Ikehara Dam has moved to "Kinari Terrace" (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, closed Thursdays). ⁡.⁡ ⁡.

Utano Furuichiba boasts a continuous, historic townscape along the old highway. Located at the "Jizo no Tsuji" intersection with Route 166, "Uta no Gohan" is a traditional Japanese folk house where you can enjoy wholesome, body-friendly meals. ✨ For lunchtime, they offer two types of set meals: the "Uta no Lunch" and the "One Soup, Two Sides Lunch." It seems they also serve an "Enzyme Brown Rice and Japanese-style Curry," available exclusively from Monday to Wednesday. 🍚 Their healthy lunches are packed with the umami and nutrients of the ingredients, featuring staples like enzyme brown rice and kasaneni (layered simmered vegetables). The weekly menu heavily incorporates locally grown Utano vegetables into both its main and side dishes. 🥬 The enzyme brown rice requires quite a bit of time and effort: brown rice, adzuki beans, and salt are cooked in a pressure cooker for about an hour, steamed for 50 minutes, and then transferred to a warmer to ferment for three days! 🍚 Its appearance and subtle sweetness resemble sekihan (red bean rice), but the texture is distinctively chewier than regular rice. Thanks to the fermentation process, it's also incredibly rich in vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. 💪 Here’s the menu for the day: ・Chicken mince cutlet with cabbage ~Sesame miso sauce~ ・Simmered napa cabbage and komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) ・Kasaneni and spinach shiraae (mashed tofu salad) ・Chef's whim side dish ・Japanese-style potato salad with kasaneni ・Kasaneni miso soup ・Enzyme brown rice The featured treat of the day was a chiffon cake with Kiyomi orange marmalade. The refreshing citrus flavor and incredibly fluffy texture were absolutely amazing! 🥳 You can add it to your lunch for just 100 yen, so definitely give it a try. ✨ ⁡⁡【 𝕀𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 】⁡ 📍 452 Utanofuruichiba, Uda City, Nara Prefecture 🚍 1-minute walk from the "Furuichiba Jizo no Tsuji" bus stop (17 minutes from Kintetsu Haibara Station) 🕚 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM (L.O. 3:00 PM), 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (L.O. 7:30 PM) 🗓 Closed Thursdays and the 3rd Wednesday of the month (Dinner is also closed on the day before a regular holiday) 🅿️ Parking available ※Visited on 2026.03.16 ⁡.⁡ ⁡.

I recently visited "Taco Tacos," tucked away in a nostalgic shopping street right in front of Haibara Station. This natural taco shop is run by "Cafe Necco," an organic café based in Murou. 🌮 Their tortillas are made from a special dough of nixtamalized organic corn (boiled with lime) mixed with naturally cultivated rice flour. They use organic, pesticide-free vegetables and grains, along with antibiotic-free meat. ✨ During this visit, I enjoyed traditional Mexican flavors featuring pork and beef, as well as some unique original tacos like grilled beets, log-grown shiitake mushrooms from Yoshino, and a black rice and lentil mix. 😋 While the classics are amazing, my absolute favorite has to be the black rice and lentil taco. The spiced flavor is spot on, but that delightfully chewy texture is what makes it an absolute must-try for grain lovers. 🫘 You can order them one piece at a time to compare flavors, or grab a set of 3 or 5 of the same kind for a bit of a discount. Mix and match based on your appetite and cravings! ☺️ I also highly recommend their homemade drinks! Try the craft cola made with organic spices, or the bio coffee featuring in-house roasted beans with international organic certifications, brewed using seasonal methods. ☕️ ⁡⁡【 𝕀𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 】⁡ 📍 2429-1 Haibarahagiwara, Uda City, Nara Prefecture 🚶 Just a short walk from Kintetsu Haibara Station 🕚 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM 🗓 Closed Sun, Mon, and Fri (subject to irregular closures) 🅿️ Available (1 parking spot) *Visited on 2026.04.14 ⁡.⁡ ⁡.

Murō-ji Temple Five-Storied Pagoda

We went to "Uda Yakuyu no Yado Yatakiya," a traditional storehouse inn nestled in the mountains of Nara 🚪 With a limited number of guests, it felt like we had the place all to ourselves, offering a truly peaceful atmosphere ✨ The best part was soaking in the medicinal bath in the ceramic bathtub ♨️ It warmed us right to the core. Dinner was a full course meal featuring local Nara vegetables, and we were completely satisfied 🍽️ Breakfast was also full of the proprietress's dedication and had a gentle, wholesome taste. The renovated storehouse building allows you to wake up naturally with the morning sun, and it's pleasantly cool even without air conditioning 😲 A stroll through the back hills or on the benches is also recommended 🌿 ★Note There are few buses and it takes 30 minutes on foot, so a car or taxi is recommended 🚗 It was perfect for those who want to get away from everyday life and relax ☺️ #Nara #UdaCity #Retreat #HotSprings

I visited Muro-ji Temple 😊 Fondly known as the "Women's Koyasan," this historic temple boasts a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by lush nature. In May, vibrant fresh greenery blankets the temple grounds, and brilliant rhododendrons bloom in full glory, offering a stunning springtime view ✨ The harmonious blend of nature with the historic five-storied pagoda and main hall is truly elegant, making it the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing, healing stroll 📸 If you're driving, there are plenty of other temples nearby, so I highly recommend exploring them together! Offering beautiful and unique views throughout the four seasons, this is a highly recommended spot for anyone sightseeing in Nara or doing a temple tour. 📍Access 🚃 Approx. 15 minutes by bus from Kintetsu Muroguchi-Ono Station, get off at Muro-ji Temple, then a 5-minute walk

The sizzling sound of frying radish cakes mingled with the aroma of scallions wafted from the street corner vendor's stove as he set up his stove. The crispy, savory flavor was always appetizing. The vendor ladled the mixed radish batter into a pan, pressed it into a round shape with a spatula, and fried it until golden brown on both sides. The crispy edges glistened in the sunlight, and each bite was exceptionally crunchy, revealing the tender radish inside. The aroma of scallions slowly spread in the mouth. Next to him, a clay pot simmered with savory soy milk. The bottom of the bowl was lined with soy sauce, vinegar, and seaweed. When hot soy milk was poured over it, it instantly solidified into a crunchy consistency. Topped with fried dough sticks and scallions, the rustling sound as it was stirred was incredibly soothing. Beside the cashier, a bamboo basket held freshly steamed shumai, their thin skin revealing tender pink shrimp inside. Some people dipped them in vinegar and ginger, the sweet and savory flavor making it hard to resist eating a few more. This casual way of eating by the roadside, without fancy tableware, brings the most genuine joy. It turns out that the true deliciousness of travel isn't in the dining environment, but in the feeling of being immersed in the local atmosphere. It allows you to feel the pulse of life in the steaming aroma, and even the breeze carries the scent of happiness. #NewYearDestinations2026 #travel2026
