When you travel, do you purposely leave time with no plans so you can just zone out? Don't expect fancy food, but farmhouse dishes are honest and satisfying. Iron-pot stewed goose and stewed fish are the local specialties, served with freshly picked local dipping vegetables to cut the grease. Try Wangkui skewers at roadside stalls for a strong local flavor. There are no big restaurants inside the wetland—only a small shop sells some bottled water and instant noodles—so be sure to bring snacks and drinking water for easy resupply during hikes.
