Weining The first time I visited Weining Caohai, I was stunned by the vast and peaceful scenery. This is the highest-altitude freshwater lake in Guizhou. The average temperature in August is just over 20 degrees Celsius, and you might even need a light jacket in the early morning and evening. The best way to enjoy Caohai is to stroll slowly along the lakeside road or rent a bike for a ride. The water is clear, the aquatic plants lush, and the blue sky and white clouds reflect on the lake’s surface. Every photo looks like a masterpiece. The strong breeze by the lake is incredibly relaxing, as if it blows all your worries away. At sunset, the whole lake turns a warm orange-red. The beauty is hard to put into words. The whole city feels like a huge forest park. Walking the streets of Yichun, the air is filled with the fresh scent of pine. One breath feels like a full lung cleanse. Wuying National Forest Park is a must-visit. Towering red pines block out the sky, and sunlight filters through the leaves, creating beautiful dappled light. Walking on the forest boardwalk, you only hear the wind and birdsong. The peacefulness is deeply healing. Yichun’s blueberries are in season in August. They’re large, sweet, and unbelievably cheap.
