Recommended attractions: 🏯 Kumamoto Castle: One of Japan’s three great castles! In spring from March to April, 800 cherry trees bloom inside the castle, creating a pink, healing scene 🌸 The main keep and turrets framed by cherry blossoms make for stunning photos, blending history with springtime romance. 🏞️ Suizenji Jojuen Garden: A breathtaking man-made landscape garden! Every step reveals a new view, creating a deeply relaxing atmosphere. 🌋 Mount Aso: One of the world’s largest active volcanic calderas! You can see the unique scenery of the Nakadake volcano 🌋 Hiking and grassland cycling are available, letting you experience the local traditional lifestyle in harmony with nature. It’s great to visit from March to December. . 🗂️ First, be sure to bring your Japan tourist visa, passport, and copies. Keep your documents close to avoid losing them. 📱 For overseas internet, you’ll need a Japan SIM card or portable WiFi, plus a plug adapter since Japan uses two flat pins and no voltage converter is needed. 👚 July in Japan is hot and humid with frequent rain, so pack lightweight, breathable clothes, a foldable umbrella, and sun protection. Also bring a light jacket for cold indoor air conditioning. 🔋 Don’t forget chargers and power banks, plus common stomach medicine, cold medicine, and emergency supplies to handle minor travel discomforts. . 💖 Follow us for more insider tips on private tours in Japan! 💖

🇯🇵 Mt. Aso | Was the drive from Fukuoka worth it?

📍 Mt. Aso, Kumamoto

Mt. Aso was one of the places I wanted to visit on my Kyushu trip because I wanted to see a volcano with smoke still rising from its crater with my own eyes.

I drove from Fukuoka, which took about 2.5 hours. Most of the route was on the highway, making it easy to drive. Once I entered the Aso area, the view changed to vast grasslands and mountains, prompting me to stop and take photos even before reaching my destination.

The weather was clear the day I went, the smoke from the volcanic crater was clearly visible, and the wind was quite strong. It was cooler than I expected, even though it was midday.

What I liked most wasn't the volcanic crater itself, but the atmosphere of the surrounding area, the road cutting through the grasslands, and the constantly changing views. I stopped at several other spots just a few kilometers away.

Travel Information:

🚗 Fukuoka → Mt. Aso
⏱️ Approximately 2.5–3 hours

Recommendations:

· Check the crater's opening hours before your trip.
· If you have time, also visit Kusasenri and Daikanbo.
· Take photos in the morning. The lighting is better and there aren't many people yet.

⭐ Personal rating: 10/10
