🇯🇵 Mt. Aso | Was the drive from Fukuoka worth it? 📍 Mt. Aso, Kumamoto Mt. Aso was one of the places I wanted to visit on my Kyushu trip because I wanted to see a volcano with smoke still rising from its crater with my own eyes. I drove from Fukuoka, which took about 2.5 hours. Most of the route was on the highway, making it easy to drive. Once I entered the Aso area, the view changed to vast grasslands and mountains, prompting me to stop and take photos even before reaching my destination. The weather was clear the day I went, the smoke from the volcanic crater was clearly visible, and the wind was quite strong. It was cooler than I expected, even though it was midday. What I liked most wasn't the volcanic crater itself, but the atmosphere of the surrounding area, the road cutting through the grasslands, and the constantly changing views. I stopped at several other spots just a few kilometers away. Travel Information: 🚗 Fukuoka → Mt. Aso ⏱️ Approximately 2.5–3 hours Recommendations: · Check the crater's opening hours before your trip. · If you have time, also visit Kusasenri and Daikanbo. · Take photos in the morning.
