Baoding Zhili Governor's Office

The Zhili Governor's Office, also known as the Zhili Governor's Department, is located at No. 301 Yuhua Road, Lianchi District, Baoding City, Hebei Province, covering an area of 30,000 square meters. It is a well-preserved provincial yamen from the Qing Dynasty in China. The original building was built in the Yuan Dynasty, and it was the Baoding Prefecture Yamen in the early Ming Dynasty. It was changed to the Daning Dusi Office during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, and it was changed to the Canjiang Office in the early Qing Dynasty. In the eighth year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1730), after a large-scale expansion, the Governor's Office was officially established. It has gone through the eight emperors of Yongzheng, Qianlong, Jiaqing, Daoguang, Xianfeng, Tongzhi, Guangxu, and Xuantong, and it can be described as a microcosm of the history of the Qing Dynasty. The Zhili Governor's Office faces south to the north and is a small hard mountain building with a typical northern yamen architectural style. Its layout is strictly built according to the Qing Dynasty's regulations on provincial yamen, with a front dynasty and back bedroom layout. The entire building complex is divided into three parts: the east road, the middle road, and the west road. Each road is a multi-entry Siheyuan layout, similar to the Forbidden City in Beijing. The Zhili Governor's Office has a total of 74 Zhili governors with 99 terms, such as Zeng Guofan, Li Hongzhang, Yuan Shikai, and Fang Guancheng.
