Arrive in Baoding: It is recommended to take a train to Baoding Station and arrive before noon (avoid Mondays, as many museums are closed) 2. Check in to your hotel/homestay: Staying near West Street is recommended for easier access to attractions (we recommend the Dingyao Culture Homestay on West Street, the only boutique homestay on the street) 3. Lunch: Try traditional intangible cultural heritage foods near West Street, such as Lvrou Cao (at the south entrance of West Street) or Baijia Zhaobing (Baoding cuisine) 4. First stop in the afternoon: Zhili Governor's Office (within walking distance from West Street). Allow about 2–3 hours for the visit (if you look at all the exhibition halls carefully) 5. Second stop in the afternoon: Ancient Lotus Pond (directly across the street from the Zhili Governor's Office). Allow about 1.5–2 hours for the visit (the sunset glow makes for better photos) 6. Dinner: You can return to West Street or explore other places based on food recommendations (personally, I think traditional foods are all available near West Street) 7. Experience the night view of West Street and relax in a cafe (there is a popular donkey burger coffee; you can check out the cold brew cafe, which has a very tasteful Republic of China style) 📌 Day 2 (Attractions are relatively scattered, so a bike ride is recommended) 1. After breakfast, take a taxi to the Baoding Museum (a must-visit, the exhibitions are excellent). Allow about 2–3 hours for the visit (choose your route based on your personal interests) 2. Before lunch, take some time to visit the Former Site of the Zhili Court (it's usually quiet, so you can take your time exploring the exhibitions and architecture) 3. Lunch: It is recommended to return to the West Street area for some quick noodle dishes (such as beef Zhaobing or Baijia steamed buns) 4. First stop in the afternoon: Bike to the Huai Army Office (Li Wenzhong Ancestral Hall and the Grand Theater). It features an exhibition on ancient Chinese theaters, and the theater itself is truly beautiful. Allow about 1.5–2 hours for the visit (if you take photos quickly) 5. Second stop in the afternoon: Baoding Water Conservancy Museum (Former Site of the Qing River Dao Office), which is near the Huai Army Office, so you can visit it while you're there. Hopefully, you won't run into any Buddhist ceremonies (the main hall will be closed during events). Allow 1–1.5 hours for the visit. The temple is not large but is very beautiful and is the best-preserved and oldest major temple in Baoding 2. If you aren't leaving Baoding at noon, you could also choose to visit the Baoding Army Memorial Park (though I've heard it's not very interesting) ✅ Travel tips 📌 There are many local intangible cultural heritage delicacies. Besides West Street, there are several other areas with a high concentration of food, so feel free to try them if you have time. 📌 The main historical sites and museums are all near West Street, so staying in the West Street area is more convenient (everything is within walking or biking distance). 📌 Baoding West Street is located in Lianchi District, Baoding City, Hebei Province. It runs east-west, starting from Lianchi South Street (formerly East Street) in the east and ending at Hengxiang South Street (formerly Huancheng West Road) in the west.
