The Secret in the Jungle | Calakmul Maya Ruins

Calakmul is located in the dense primeval forest in Campeche, Mexico, very close to the border of Mexico and Guatemala. The transportation here is not developed. We are self-driving, the nearby roads are under construction, and it will be much more convenient after the Maya Railway 🚞 is opened. It is recommended to have at least a two-day tour and stay in the cabaña hotel near the scenic spot. This way you can have plenty of time to visit Calakmul and take a good look at several very characteristic Maya ruins nearby. After entering the gate of the scenic spot, you need to drive for 1.5 hours to reach the ruins. Calakmul means two adjacent mountains in Maya, and all the ruins can be climbed. The pyramids stand in the depths of the rainforest. When you climb to the top of the highest 80-meter pyramid, you can overlook the entire rainforest and imagine the scene of the Maya kingdom in its heyday. The largest pyramid has a door on the second floor that can be entered. It is deeper and larger inside, connected to another pyramid. The mural is 3 meters high and 20 meters long. There are 54 rooms inside. It is not open to the public now. Monkeys and eagles can often be seen in the ruins. If you are lucky, you can also see a mother monkey carrying a baby monkey.
