The Confucian Temple of Haiyang County in Chaozhou

The Confucian Temple of Haiyang County, also known as Hongxue or Xuegong, is an ancient architectural complex located at the intersection of Changli Road and Wenxing Road in Xiangqiao District, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, China. The construction began during the Shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1131-1162) and has undergone multiple renovations and expansions. The main structures include the Lingxing Gate, the accompanying pool, two side halls, the Dacheng Gate, and the Dacheng Hall. This architectural complex is an important heritage of Chinese traditional culture and a significant site for studying ancient Chinese culture and Confucian thought. The Dacheng Hall retains the architectural style of a Ming Dynasty palace, with a lifted beam frame supported by 43 large columns, and is surrounded by stone railings. It bears similarities to the Daxiong Treasure Hall of Jinci in Shanxi.
