FANI FITRI

TERRACOTTA ARMY

Xi'an, China, March 29, 1974, exactly today 45 years ago. Yang Zhifa and Wang Puzhi never thought that the hoe they plunged into the ground to make a well would turn out to be the most spectacular archaeological discovery of the 20th century: the Terracotta Army made during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC). The statues are in the emperor Qin Shi Huang's tomb complex. Zhifa and Puzhi are a pair of brothers who work as farmers and live as neighbors in the Lintong County district, outside Xi'an city, Shaanxi province, China. Xi'an is not a popular city like Beijing or Shanghai. Although there are stories about the Monks Tong Sam Cong and Sun Go Kong or how the city became the entry point for Islam to China brought by Arab traders in 651 AD (error: previously written BC) during the Tang Dynasty. Syahdan, that day Zhifa and Puzhi agreed to make a well in a field about an hour's bus ride from their house. When she arrived and started hoeing, Zhifa was startled by something that hit the hoe. He immediately told Puzhi. At first they thought that what was hit was a Buddha statue. However, their guess was wrong: it was a statue of the Terracotta Warrior. The news of this important discovery spread quickly. Several months later, an archaeological team led by Zhao Kangmin and several Chinese officials arrived there. More intense excavation was carried out. The result: the number of Terracotta Troops is estimated to have reached more than 8,000 and all of them were made without using any tools or only using hands. Created since 246 BC involving more than 700,000 workers, this megaproject took up to 40 years to complete. In addition to the statues of soldiers, other statues that show professions such as musicians, acrobats, officials, and concubines were also found. In addition there are also about 40 thousand weapons made of copper. Starting from arrows, swords, to whips which, miraculously, are still in good condition despite being over 2,000 years old. Other statues: 130 chariots #themeparks#nationalpark#lakes#beaches#infinitypool
