After visiting the Yuhuang Pavilion, there was still some time before dark, so after some consideration, I decided to continue to check in at Fengfeng's national treasure, the Cizhou Kiln Site. · The Cizhou Kiln was a famous folk kiln in the north during the Song and Yuan dynasties, named after the ancient jurisdiction of Cizhou. Today, the kiln site mainly has two major areas, one is in Guantai Town of Ci County, and the other is from Pengcheng Town to Linshui Town in the Fengfeng mining area. · According to the introduction, there are more than fifty ancient kiln sites in Pengcheng, ranging from the Yuan dynasty to the Republic of China, among which the sites from the Republic of China period are the most numerous. The decorative art of Cizhou Kiln is characterized by its stark black and white contrast and occupies an important position in the history of Chinese ceramics development, known as 'Jingdezhen in the south, Pengcheng in the north'. · Due to time constraints, we mainly visited the Cizhou Kiln Site near the old town of Pengcheng this time. Not far from the Fengfeng mining area, you can see the continuous Yuanbao Mountains, pass through the long tunnel, and then arrive at Pengcheng. · Pengcheng is the hometown of Cizhou Kiln, as early as the Neolithic age of the Cishan culture, the ancestors of Pengcheng began to make porcelain, which reached its peak during the Song dynasty. The Yandian Site we visited is one of them. · The most impressive part of this site is the steamed bun-shaped kiln built by horizontally arranged cage helmets, which the locals call 'Mantou Kiln', and it looks very cute. According to the introduction, the Mantou Kiln is a type of ceramic kiln, a semi-down-draft intermittent kiln, also known as 'Round Kiln'. This type of kiln started in the Warring States period, used coal from the Song dynasty onwards, and was the earliest ceramic kiln to use coal as fuel. · The most famous site here is an ancient kiln from the Yuan dynasty, but it is basically in a state of abandonment. Fortunately, although it is called a site, there has always been a heritage, and in the workshop next to the kiln site, you can see the process of making porcelain. · Passing through the site, you will come to the old street of Pengcheng, but most of it seems to be newly built imitation ancient buildings, which are not very interesting and have basically become a snack street.
