Jinshan Donglin Temple and Sea of Flowers Day Trip

The reason why these two attractions are combined is firstly because they are very close to each other, with less than 7 kilometers distance, about a 10-minute drive, and secondly, the Sea of Flowers is past the peak season of spring blossoms, with cherry blossoms nearing their end and the various grass flowers also coming to a close, not suitable for detailed viewing anymore. In short, at this time, it's not worth making a trip just for the Sea of Flowers, but a visit to Donglin Temple with a side trip to the Sea of Flowers is worthwhile. Donglin Temple, founded during the Yuan Dynasty, has a history of over 700 years. It was originally a Guanyin pavilion, which is why there is the world's tallest indoor statue of the Thousand-Handed Guanyin here (it is forbidden to take photos of the Buddha statue, please be mindful). The later built Guanyin pavilion is extremely magnificent. The Shancai Tongzi statue in the release pond at the entrance is also the world's tallest cloisonné sculpture. The only ancient building in the rebuilt Donglin Temple is the Yuantong Baodian on the east side (photo 2), inside of which is a Yuan Dynasty sculpture of Guanyin made from over a ton of Xinjiang Hetian jade.
