What comes to mind 🎞️ is first the sunset stone alley walked by Malena in "Malèna," and second the mysterious undercurrents of the Mafia in "The Godfather." . These two layers of imagery overlap, giving this Mediterranean island a fascinating and contradictory charm. . Only when you truly set foot on the largest island in the Mediterranean do you realize that its beauty needs no legend to enhance it—real Sicily is even more moving than the movies. . Day 1⃣️: The influences of many countries converge here, with vibrant scenery underpinned by deep history. The Teatro Massimo was a filming location for the finale of "The Godfather Part III," and every arch of the cathedral seems to tell an ancient story 📜. . Day 2⃣️: Here are spectacular ancient Greek ruins by the Mediterranean. Strolling down the Turkish Steps to the sea, the white and blue scenery is very romantic. At dusk, the stone columns of the "Valley of the Temples" are dyed honey-colored by the sunset, bronze statues lie across the ground, and time freezes two thousand years ago. . Day 3⃣️: Sicily’s most beautiful "balcony"❗ The small town hangs on a mountaintop, with the ruins of the ancient Greek theater’s columns facing the silhouette of the volcano. Piazza 9 Aprile is a natural viewing platform, below is the deep blue Ionian Sea. ✨If you’re lucky, you can see white smoke rising from the volcano crater entwined with clouds. . Day 4⃣️: The city is built from black stones left by Mount Etna, with the Cathedral of Saint Agatha and the University Square all in lava colors. 👉The fish market here is liveliest in the morning, with fresh catches just landed and vendors’ shouts rising. The city at the foot of the volcano has a rough yet vibrant rhythm. . Day 5⃣️: 🎬 The main filming location of "Malèna." The old town of Ortigia Island looks like a movie set—narrow limestone alleys, drying sheets, faded shutters, and the sea dyed amber by the sunset 🌅. On the cathedral square, you can almost hear the echo of high heels tapping on the stone slabs at any moment. . Five days is too short to explore the whole island. But these small towns are enough to immerse you in the myriad charms of Sicily. .

Catania, a city at the foot of Mount Etna, is like a bright pearl, shining with the brilliance of history and modernity. Every corner exudes a strong cultural atmosphere, and every building carries a long story. 🌄 Piazza del Duomo leaves a deep impression. The spectacular Catania Cathedral attracts every visitor with its unique Baroque style. The elephant fountain here is a symbol of Catania, quietly telling the legend of the city. The Catania Cathedral, which combines multiple architectural styles, is breathtaking. Whether it is the elegance of the Norman style or the dialogue between Baroque and Gothic, it is all displayed in this cathedral. Especially the crypt where the remains of Saint Agatha are kept, gives people a sense of sacred awe. Stroll along Via Etnea, and the shops and restaurants on both sides of the street are bustling. Every shop here exudes a strong sense of life, and the rich shopping and food choices make this street the best place to experience Catania life. 🍝 Castello Ursino is a microcosm of the city's history. Walking into the fish market, the lively atmosphere seems to take people back to the long river of history. Colorful fresh seafood, local fruits, and vegetables, this is an excellent place to taste authentic Sicilian cuisine, real and vivid. 🦐 The Roman Amphitheater stands quietly, witnessing the changes of time. As an ancient arena, it once carried countless wonderful historical moments. Every step on this monument is an intimate contact with history. #planitorwingit My walk through the gardens of the Acquicella Roman Villa was a spontaneous detour. I was just exploring the city and saw a sign for the villa. I decided to check it out, and I’m so glad I did. The villa is a fascinating glimpse into Catania’s ancient past. I wandered through the ruins, admiring the intricate mosaics and the remains of the old walls. The gardens are peaceful and well-maintained, a lovely place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. My tip? If you’re interested in history, don’t miss this hidden gem. It’s a small site, but it’s packed with atmosphere and offers a unique perspective on the city’s long history.

#planitorwingit My loop around the market stalls of Piazza Carlo Alberto was a "plan it" decision. I had already been to the famous fish market, but I wanted to see the other side of Catania’s market life. This square is more focused on produce, cheese, and local delicacies. I wandered from stall to stall, admiring the colorful displays of fruit and vegetables. I bought a bag of mandarins for €2 and a piece of local pecorino cheese for €6. The vendors were friendly and more than happy to let me sample their goods. My advice? Come here with a appetite and a bag. It’s the perfect place to stock up on picnic supplies or to find unique ingredients to take home.

#planitorwingit My hike through the pine grove of Monte Po was a "wing it" decision. I was just looking for a break from the city heat and saw a green patch on my map. I decided to go for it, without really knowing what to expect. It was a steep but rewarding climb. The air was instantly cooler and smelled of pine. I followed the path as it wound through the trees, the sound of the city fading away. I found a clearing with a view over the rooftops of Catania and sat there for a long time, just enjoying the peace and quiet. My tip? If you’re a nature lover visiting a big city, always have a pair of hiking shoes with you. You never know when you’ll find a green oasis to explore.

#planitorwingit My walk down the literature lane of Piazza Giovanni Verga was a "plan it" decision. I had read some of Verga’s work and wanted to see the square named in his honor. I was surprised to find it was a quiet, residential area, a far cry from the busy tourist spots. I walked slowly, reading the plaques and trying to imagine the writer in his element. I found a small, independent bookstore and browsed the shelves for a while. The owner, an elderly gentleman, recommended a collection of Verga’s short stories, which I bought for €12. My advice? If you’re a literature lover, seek out these lesser-known corners of a city. You’ll find a deeper connection to the place and its stories.
The Cathedral of Sant'Agata is a huge building. The city has a long history and the church is also a very important facility in the city. In this area you can also feel the long history of the old city and there are many interesting environments.
小思文The Elephant Fountain is located on the square of the cathedral. It is also a landmark building here. It is quite symbolic. The place is not big. You can see this fountain when visiting the cathedral and the monuments around the square.
泰宁根吴承恩it is one of the most important attraction in the city for the history and the other sites around this major architecture
_GG***51Nice park to walk around. Nice to have some green space but nothing much in the area and especially once you get up there, there’s just a pavilion.
WB2021Unique architectural landscape. You can take a sightseeing train here.
BeaTiOne of the most famous sights, well worth a look and photo taking
BeaTiLovely square surrounded by beautiful buildings. Not much in the area but great to stroll around and you’re bound to pass it while in town.
WB2021This is the most friendly opera house I have ever seen. I discovered it by accident and watched an opera rehearsal. It was very interesting. It is right next to the cathedral.
爱旅游的背包客🌋 Mount Etna, Sicily 🇮🇹 — An Unforgettable Volcanic Adventure! 🔥✨Visiting Mount Etna was one of the most extraordinary experiences in Sicily! Standing on Europe’s tallest active volcano, surrounded by endless black lava fields, ancient craters, and breathtaking landscapes, felt like exploring another planet. 🏔️😍Walking around the Silvestri Craters was particularly fascinating, with their dramatic volcanic formations and incredible views stretching toward the Sicilian coastline. 📸🌊What impressed me most was the contrast between the dark volcanic terrain and the beautiful blue Mediterranean sky. The scenery is truly unique! 💙💡 Travel tip: Bring comfortable shoes, a warm jacket, and check the weather before visiting. Temperatures can be surprisingly cold, even during summer! 🧥❤️ Mount Etna is more than a sightseeing destination—it’s a powerful reminder of how extraordinary nature can be.
