The Liaoning Provincial Museum is the first museum established in New China. In 2008, it was rated as one of the first batch of national first-class museums, and in 2009, it was listed as a national-level museum jointly built by the central and local governments. The Liaoning Provincial Museum is located at No. 157, Wisdom Three Street, Hunnan District, Shenyang City. The museum houses nearly 120,000 pieces (sets) of collections, including 494 national first-class cultural relics (sets). The collection spans from the Paleolithic Age to the near modern era, covering 20 categories such as paintings and calligraphy, archaeology, ceramics, bronzes, currency, sculptures, lacquerware, cloisonné, silk embroidery, costumes, steles, etc. It is particularly renowned for its Jin, Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasty paintings and calligraphy, Song and Yuan dynasty silk embroidery, Hongshan culture jades, Shang and Zhou dynasty bronze wares, Liao dynasty ceramics, steles from various dynasties, Ming and Qing dynasty prints, ancient maps, and currencies from various eras. The richness of the collections, the exquisite quality, and the distinctive features have earned it a high reputation both domestically and internationally.
