Watch a gentle sunset at Angkor Wat

Watching the sunrise and sunset at Angkor Wat is a classic activity. Most tourists go to Phnom Bakheng for the sunset, but since we were running late, we probably wouldn't have gotten a good spot, so our driver suggested going to Pre Rup instead. 🌟Highlights: This is where cremation ceremonies used to take place. Royals were cremated here and then became gods, which is why it's also known as the Transformation Tower. You can still see the charred traces today. Pre Rup is also a pyramid-style structure, and climbing up layer by layer, you reach the top with a wide view. You can see the lush forest scenery, making it a nice spot for sunset viewing, and it's not too crowded. The temple is made of red bricks, which glow warmly under the sunlight, especially during the soft light of sunrise and sunset, highlighting its beauty. From the top, you can gaze at the mountainous landscape. Since it was the rainy season, the clouds were quite thick, and we were just happy it wasn't raining. After waiting for a while, the clouds got thicker, and it looked like it was going to rain. We didn't want to give up on the sunset, so we waited a bit longer. The sky cleared up just enough to excite the waiting tourists with a glimpse of the afterglow. This sunset wasn't spectacular, just a brief appearance, without the magnificent view of the sky being painted red by the evening glow. Still, this subtle sunset was satisfying. 🎫Ticket Information: Angkor Wat tickets come in one-day, three-day, and seven-day options. If you have plenty of time, you can opt for the seven-day pass, but the three-day pass is generally enough to get a good experience. 🏠Accommodation Information: You can book online in advance, usually staying around the Siem Reap Night Market. 🚌Transportation Information: There are many scattered attractions within the Angkor Wat temple complex, and the farthest outer circle requires a chartered vehicle, which you can arrange to visit on the first day. Depending on your stamina, you can also choose to cycle the small and grand circuits. You can book a chartered vehicle online in advance or through your hotel. We negotiated a price with the driver on the way from the airport to the hotel in a public taxi and then confirmed it.
