Luzhi - The oldest water town

2023.09.10 Record of a wonderful trip (D3) - Luzhi Ancient Town In Wuzhong District, Suzhou, there is such an ancient town, which is the same age as Suzhou ancient city, and has a history of more than 2500 years of Chinese water town culture - Luzhi. The ancient town is located 25 kilometers southeast of Suzhou city, is the east gate of Wuzhong District, north to Wusong River, south to Cheng Lake, west to Suzhou Industrial Park, and east to Kunshan Nangang Town. The ancient town retains the buildings with water town characteristics and folk customs such as old houses and streets, pink walls and black tiles, and small bridges and flowing water: Wansheng Rice Shop is the rice shop described in Ye Shengtao's famous novel 'Collected Three to Five Dou More', witnessing the rise and fall of the business in the water town of Jiangnan; the nine mud arhat sculptures by Yang Huizhi, a famous sculptor of the Tang Dynasty, are still well preserved in Baosheng Temple, despite the vicissitudes of thousands of years; the former residence of Shen Baihan, a member of the Tongmenghui, has a layout of both official and commercial, front shop and back house, left workshop and right shop, which makes people appreciate the superior family conditions of the wealthy. Walking along the small road on both sides of the river, strolling on the broken stone slab road, the breeze on the river surface blows, bringing bursts of lotus fragrance, buying fresh water chestnuts from the hands of the old woman in the water town, crispy and sweet, full of fragrance. The gentle and lovely small bridge and flowing water; the ancient town culture with a long history; the Jiangnan residences with pink walls and black tiles; the ancient bridge stone slabs with mottled traces, create a deep cultural ancient town.
