Shishui Dianbu

Shishui Dianbu, located in Xidong Village, Shiyang Town, Taishun County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, was built in the 59th year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1794) and was rebuilt after water damage in the 24th year of the Jiaqing era (1819). Shishui Dianbu is 133 meters long, 1.9 meters wide, with a total of 223 teeth. It extends in a straight line over the water, presenting a magnificent sight. The stone teeth of the Dianbu are flat and each tooth is divided into two levels, with the higher level used by shoulder-carrying pedestrians or during the flood season. The high Dianbu stones are made of white granite, while the low Dianbu stones are made of bluestone. The use of two different types of stone materials in colors creates a beautiful appearance of the Dianbu, and the use of two-tone stones makes it easier to recognize the path at night. Shishui Dianbu is an outstanding representative among the many Dianbus preserved in Taishun County. Its design and construction are relatively scientific, with typical regional characteristics and high scientific and artistic value. On May 25, 2006, Shishui Dianbu was announced by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
