TREASURE ROBINSON

Wuyan Ridge

Wuyan Ridge is located within the territory of Taishun in the southern part of Zhejiang Province, connecting to Shouning County of Fujian Province in the west and Jingning County of the same province in the north. Wuyan Ridge was formerly known as 'Wanli Forest', as recorded in the Qing Dynasty's 'Fenjianglu', which says 'The mountains in front are extremely high, towering beneath them, their peaks cluster loftily, not far from the sky, with many spiritual herbs in the middle, and caves irrigated with sand. Pine trees hang from the sheer cliffs, and the spiritual essence touches the waves...'. In the old times, Wuyan Ridge was a wilderness. Later, because the stone walls by the streams and the rocks in the ditches within the territory were particularly dark, the local people called it 'Wuyan Forest', hence the name 'Wuyan Ridge' was established. The main peak, Baiyunjian, has an altitude of 1611.3 meters. When climbing to the top of this peak on a clear day, one can vaguely see the prefectural city of Wenzhou. The poem from 'Zaijing Tang Collection·Jiangnan Jing Shi Poetry Draft·Tour of Wuyan Ridge' reads: 'In the vast mountains, the overnight stay is accompanied by the secluded sound of pheasants, and at dawn, the climb through the forest is met with vigorous strides. Carrying oneself to the top of Baiyunjian, the clear wind allows one's gaze to reach Wenzhou.' The total area of the Wuyan Ridge reserve is 18,861.5 hectares (nearly 190 square kilometers).
