The Ming Dynasty geographer and traveler Xu Xiake once visited Rehai for investigation and made a detailed and wonderful description of the geothermal landscape of Rehai. After buying a ticket to enter the scenic area, the gate with the words 'a pool of hot sea' is displayed in front of you. On the right hand side is a carved wall, mainly telling about Xu Xiake's experience in Rehai. The character carving is exquisite and the text is concise. The reason why Rehai is different from other hot springs is mainly because of its high temperature and different water outflows. There are those that pour down from high places, those that bubble up from the ground, those that spray out from the cracks, and those that are in pools. The more famous ones include Toad Spring, Pearl Spring, Drumming Spring, Womb Well and Big Boiling Pot. As you enter the scenic area and climb up the steps, the first hot spring is the Toad Spring. I, who was a bit excited, rushed to the spring. Before I could stand still, I was hit by a heat wave mixed with steam and the smell of sulfur, and I was a bit breathless. I stepped back a few steps, looked up, and saw the water of the Toad Spring flowing down from a high place with heat, and the water on the ground gushed out from the cracks in the stones like a fountain in the city. The up and down, echoing each other, the momentum is magnificent, it is spectacular. Because the water outlets of the Toad Spring are large and many, the surrounding area is foggy, as if in a fairyland. Although this scene is good, it is too humid and hot, and it is not suitable to stay for a long time. Along the way is the Pearl Spring. Unlike the Toad Spring, it is not so unrestrained and majestic, but bubbles of different sizes emerge from the ground, which is relatively gentle. The Drumming Spring, as the name suggests, makes a sound very similar to a drum due to the small water outlet. The Womb Well originates from a beautiful legend of 'spring water giving birth to a child'. I met a mother and daughter by the well. The mother asked the little girl whether she wanted a brother or a sister. The girl said she wanted a sister, which made everyone around her laugh. There are many more large and small hot spring wells along the way, and the water temperature is very high. The scenic area advises tourists not to put food in the water, but there are still those who do not follow the rules. I don't know if they have to pay a high price before they can restrain themselves. The most peculiar thing about Rehai is the Big Boiling Pot, with a temperature of 96.6 degrees, which is close to boiling water. The color of the water is blue, which is very beautiful. Buy a string of grass-woven eggs and steam them in the drawer next to the Big Boiling Pot. It is said that it can be cooked in 20 minutes, but I used 40 minutes and the egg yolk is still not completely solidified. I guess there are too many people steaming eggs, and there are always people lifting the lid, so the temperature in the steaming drawer is not high enough. If you just look at the scenery in Rehai, 2~3 hours is enough. If tourists to Yunnan have time, they must choose to visit Tengchong's Rehai. After all, there are only three such landscapes in China.
