I escorted my friends from Nanjing on a tour of Gulangyu Island, and the weather was exceedingly "enthusiastic". Besides immersing ourselves in the cultural richness of Gulangyu, we certainly couldn't miss out on the local delicacies. As we strolled down Longtou Road, a particularly eye-catching snack shop caught our attention. The shop, with its dark green façade, specializes in Minnan snacks, which added an intriguing touch to our exploration. We casually ordered a few items to sample and found them to be quite delectable. 🥟 Crystal Shumai: The skin, made from cassava vermicelli, was translucent and slightly chewy. The filling consisted of minced meat and chopped mushrooms, which was subtly flavored but could be enhanced with dipping sauce. It was incredibly tasty! 🌯 White Jade Rice Roll: Having tasted rice rolls from various places, each with its unique flavor, their version was freshly made from rice milk, offering a chewy texture and a delightful aroma. It was filled with vermicelli and dried bamboo shoots, a dish we would definitely order again. 🐔 Vienna Chicken Cutlet: The freshly fried chicken cutlet served with spicy sauce was crispy and fragrant, and reasonably priced! 🥤 Guanyin Tea Jelly: Their tea jelly was absolutely refreshing! Guanyin tea base ➕ grass jelly, a perfect drink to cool down in summer! The first sip brought a chewy sensation from the grass jelly. The shop also offers golden prawns 🍤, crispy flatbread, and more. It's a snack shop with a strong Minnan flavor, and they even offer a snack platter! Walking down the street, this snack platter is quite an eye-catcher, highly recommended!
