The works of people, the gifts of nature
Every spring, thousands of tourists come to Hanamiyama Park to see the amazing fruits of the labors of the Abe family, who opened their farmlands to the general public in 1959. Now visitors can admire the magical sakura and other flowering plants here.
How to get there
The park is a 15-minute bus ride from Fukushima Station.
During the cherry blossom season, Tohoku Shinkasen from Tokyo will take you to Fukushima Station. After a 15-minute bus ride, you will need to walk a little.
History
In the 1920s, the Abe family began to grow flowers for sale on the mountain slopes around the farm, and in 1959 allowed people to visit these places, setting up the magnificent Hanamiyama Park or "Flower Mountain". Since that time, three generations of the Abe family have continued to take care of the land and rejoice in the success of their plan.
A sea of flowers
Sakura, plum, and hydrangeas grow here… There are magnificent exhibitions of lilies and azaleas. In addition, ornamental trees and plants that are atypical for the nature of Japan have been planted.
Note to visitors
Information about walking trails and access for wheelchair users can be found at the stands.
Hanami Yama Sakura season 🌸🌺🌼
#timetotravel
Hanamiyama (花見山) is a park on the slopes surrounding a rural farming neighborhood just outside central Fukushima. Originally started by local farmers who planted ornamental plants and flowering trees on the hillsides around their land, the park was opened to the public in 1959 and has grown to be the city's top cherry blossom spot. Every year thousands of visitors flock to the area to admire its cherry blossoms.
The peak of the spring flowering season at Hanamiyama usually takes place from mid to late April, when the ubiquitous Somei Yoshino cherry trees open around the valley and can be enjoyed in combination with beautiful views of the Azuma Mountains off in the distance. Several other cherry varieties and flowering trees and bushes are also planted in large numbers around the slopes and provide visitors with a wide range of spring colors.

I’ve visited here for a day trip the entire facility is high-grade. The bathroom and the changing room are huge. The water of all the indoor bath pools is added with chlorine. The bath room and water smells chlorine. The water of open air bath is 100% natural hot spring without circulation. The inflow of the water had slight sulfate smell. Overall, everything except the quality of hot spring was excellent.overall awesome

Hanayashiki Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
I love Hanayashiki
#cherryblossom2024
I had an exciting adventure during our vacation when I visited the lively city of Japan. The spring season transformed the surroundings into a paradise, and walking around Hanayashiki brought a sense of rejuvenation. The breathtaking landscapes in this serene sanctuary left us in awe, offering unforgettable moments that we will always cherish.
Established in the year 1883, Hanayashiki has stood the test of time and continues to captivate visitors with its charm. Boasting approximately 20 rides, the park leans more towards evoking nostalgia rather than providing heart-pounding thrills – featuring iconic attractions such as Japan's oldest steel-track rollercoaster and a spine-chilling haunted house. While some rides have undergone enhancements throughout the years, the park's compact size limits the expansion of its offerings.
The ambiance at Hanayashiki exudes a palpable sense of nostalgia, transporting guests back to a bygone era. Amidst the aging structures, there is an underlying feeling of exuberant joy hideaway has left an indelible mark on my consciousness. The joy of revisiting and savoring every second in this extraordinary haven is truly unparalleled.#trip
