Just a 30-minute drive from San Sebastián lies Getaria, a small port town where the sea and history intertwine. Strolling down the cobblestone alleys, my first stop for pintxos was "Xagu". The beautiful plates lined up on the counter and the laid-back flow of Basque time instantly put my mind at ease. Afterward, I headed to the Balenciaga Museum. Experiencing the aesthetics and innovation of Cristóbal Balenciaga in the very town where he was born and raised was a truly luxurious moment. To top off the trip, I visited "Iribar Jatetxea". Savoring their famous turbot right by the ocean, I experienced the true power of simple ingredients and the profound depth of Basque cuisine. A Pilgrimage to the Spanish Atlantic Coast – Gipuzkoa Region A highly recommended winery visit, with a friendly welcome and a very inspiring explanation of the process from harvest to bottling of delicious wines. Tuna, anchovies, and bread were served during the tasting. The rosé and white wines were delicious! I immediately grabbed several bottles. Besides the wonderful wines, the cellar views were breathtaking. In fact, this winery was the first in the region to begin producing Técole. It is a 5-kilometer walking route that is relatively flat and not too long, making it an ideal way to exercise while enjoying breathtaking views and the soothing sound of ocean waves. The trail offers incredible scenery, numerous viewpoints, and benches where you can rest along the way. I highly recommend completing the entire route.
