Solemn Lampang
Lampang is a resort town in the north of Thailand that still has a nostalgic feel to it. Tourists can begin their journey by traveling within the city, which still uses carriages as a mode of transportation, which has become a province-wide distinctiveness.
There are other historic architectural structures, such as Kad Kong Ta, an old commercial district near the Wang River Ratsadaphisek Bridge, or the White Land Bridge, a Lampang landmark dating back over a century. Another famous sight is the Khun Than Tunnel, which is said to be Thailand's most beautiful and longest railway tunnel.

At a distance of 100 kilometers from Chiang Mai, there is a small town called Lampang, which takes about an hour from Chiang Mai to Lampang. If you are tired of tourists in Chiang Mai, you may come to Lampang. The reason why I noticed this place is because I read that there are more than 40,000 overseas Chinese and Chinese, but after I found out, most of them would not say it. The most famous in Nanbang is the carriage. You can see the carriages in the city everywhere. It is also a place where Burmese temples are concentrated. If you are interested in Lanna culture, don't miss it.
Lampang, the laid-back capital of northern Thailand. Like Chiang Mai in the north, it is a beautiful and lazy town. Compared to Chiang Mai, it seems to be more clean and more comfortable.
Walk into this small town and take a horse-drawn carriage through the beautiful temples.
The Bensonmo Temple is a very beautiful temple in Nanben, situated on a hilltop. Ascend to the stone steps, you will be able to access the beautiful white stupa, as well as the charming temple landscape.
Beautiful golden stupa, nestled within a white wall. Two dragon statues, waiting to climb the gate of the stone steps. Through the gate, the golden pagoda is quietly located.

Doi Khun Tan National Park
A good place for hiking and camping. There is located at the border of Lampang and Lampoon provinces.

DOI KHUN TAN
This 225-sq-km national park straddles the mountains between Lamphun and Lampang Provinces. It ranges in elevation from 350m in the bamboo-forest lowlands to 1363m at the pine-studded summit of Doi Khun Tan. Wildflowers, including orchids, ginger and lilies, are abundant. At the park headquarters there are maps of well-marked trails that range from short walks around the headquarter's vicinity to hikes covering the mountain’s four peaks; there’s also a trail to Nam Tok Tat Moei (7km round trip).
The park is very popular on cool-season weekends. Intersecting the mountain slopes is Thailand’s longest train tunnel (1352m), which opened in 1921 after six years of manual labour by thousands of Lao workers (several of whom are said to have been killed by tigers).
Bungalows (500B to 2700B) sleeping between two and nine people are available near the park headquarters, where there’s also a restaurant.
The main access to the park is from the Khun Tan train station. To check timetables and prices from various destinations, call the State Railway of Thailand or check its website. Once at the Khun Tan station, cross the tracks and follow a steep, marked path 1.3km to the park headquarters. By car, take the Chiang Mai–Lampang highway to the Mae Tha turn-off then follow the signs along a steep unpaved road for 18km.
Yo 2 camping point at Doi Khuntan

Baan Sao Nak Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Horse-Drawn Carriage Through Lampang
Old Town
Lampang which is known as the 'horse carriage city' has a local attraction that should not be missed...horse-drawn carriage ride! We hopped on a horse drawn carriage and rode through Lampang's old town, stopping at at a few places, including Baan Sao Nak, an ancient wooden house made of teak wood and Wat Phra Kaeo Don Tao.
We felt this is one of the best way to enjoy the town of Lampang and get a glimpse of the architecture. What an enjoyable experience.

Baan Sao Nak: The century-old teak house must be recorded in black and white with texture.
This is the biggest surprise I encountered , a century-old pomelo wood house quietly standing by the river in Nanbang. It is said that the original owner who built it was a merchant from Myanmar, so in addition to the typical Lanna style, many Burmese elements can also be seen in the architectural design. Now it is completely open to the public for visiting, and visitors can personally step into this old house, walk up to the second floor, and feel the temperature of the pomelo wood stairs and floors.
📷📷
Highlights:
The biggest highlight of this old house should be its pillars, up to 116 of them, but they don't look out of place at all. They turn a regular "home" into a museum, with grandeur, spaciousness, and the interplay of light and shadow adding a touch of color.
💰💰
Master, about your wealth?
The room is filled with silverware, ceramics, furniture, and so on. It's not particularly wealthy, but everything is exquisitely placed, which probably reflects the living standards of the southern merchants at that time.
In the room, you can see many old items everywhere, and they are within reach, such as old-fashioned record players, fans, irons, and so on. This immersive experience of the old house museum is really great!
🚗🚗
Self-driving:
It is recommended to drive to Nanbang. Although the scenery along the way by train is beautiful, driving is much faster and more convenient for visiting attractions after arrival. The city of Nanbang is not crowded with cars and people, very comfortable, with friendly road conditions and parking.
🔺🔺
Visiting time: about 1 hour.
Remember to wear slippers when visiting.
Baan Sao Nak is a beautiful teak house built in 1895. It is rich in Lanna style and is supported by 116 square teak columns. There are a lot of antiques, silverware, porcelain, and Taibei handicrafts, which are worth visiting. I have to mention a little about the concept of Lanna, Lanna or Lanna Thai (1292-1558), a kingdom in Thailand's history that once controlled the northern part of Thailand, and the first powerful power of the Thai family. And this building is now a relatively intact building.
Wat Pra That Doi Pra Chan Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Beauty of Tranquility @ Doi Pra Chan
In the peaceful Lampang province, Thailand, we found the stunning and serene temple Wat Pra That Doi Pra Chan.
This Buddhist temple, designed in Thai and Japanese architectural styles, located at the top of Doi Pra Chan mountain in Mae Tha, Lampang, offering visitors a breathtaking panoramic view from its elevated grounds.
One of the temple's highlights is a remarkable replica of the Great Buddha Daibutsu of Japan at the temple's highest point. In addition to the beautiful religious sculptures, pagodas, and buildings, there are many nice spots perfect for photography enthusiasts, making every corner memorable for pictures.
Accessing the temple can be done either via the Songthaew Shuttle Service or by the staircase, which is more difficult and challenging.
Our visit left us feeling blessed, having experienced a sense of peace and tranquility within the temple's sacred grounds.

Challenging 8,000 “Stairs to the SKY HIKE!”
This is by far and large one of my favorite temples in all of Thailand and most certainly in Chiang Mai.
This 14th century Buddhist temple and pilgrimage site, known locally as Wat Doi Suthep (and pronounced “Doy Soo-tep”) is located within Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, about 40 minutes outside of Chiang Mai. The stunning architecture you see in the photos are even more incredible when you visit this temple on the mountain. Be prepared to climb 10,000 stairs along gorgeous staircase leading up to the top of the mountain.

Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Timeless Echoes: A Day at Wat Phra That Lampang Luang
Stepping into the hallowed grounds of Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, I was immediately transported into a realm of timeless heritage. Nestled in Thailand's Lampang province, this 13th-century temple embodies the quintessence of Lanna architecture, standing as a beacon of the region's rich cultural tapestry.
The temple complex, a labyrinth of historical intrigue, unfolded with each step. I marveled at the intricate teak wood carvings, and the stucco-covered chedi, each detail whispering tales of yesteryears. The murals narrating Jataka tales added a mystical allure, while the golden pagoda asserted the temple's spiritual significance.
In a quiet corner, I noticed a group of ox statues, worshipped by the locals, but it was the overall atmosphere that captivated me. A visit to Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is like turning the pages of a living history book, a profound experience that lingers long after the visit.

The legendary Lampang Temple is located in Ko Kha County, 18 km southwest of Lampang City. It is the oldest building in Lampang and the most important and most important temple. The temple was once a city site in the ancient country of Hariphunchai in Thailand. It was built by the queen of Khaliben Guess, but after the dynasty, the city was also abandoned. The temple is the only preserved in the old city. The building was rebuilt during the 16th century. The temple is dedicated to a golden Buddha statue. Every December, Buddhist festivals are held. The temples attractions include arches, 15th century huge stupa, stupa fence battle marks and Thailands oldest teak. Focus on the Viharn Nam Taem. Of course, the most amazing thing is that there is an area in the small temple on the left hand side of the main hall that can reflect the reflection of the entire stupa temple. The morning sun can be completely mapped on the arranged white cloth.
