NYC - the city that never sleeps

Dreaming new york city
New York is that city that can’t be explained but need to be visited at least once in your lifetime.
Everything around has so much power and personality that things you see in NY can be seen only there.
New York is well known for many things, but one of them is easily its artistic prowess and the talent it homes. It's also a great spot for some huge, fascinating museums, and if you're always up for some peaceful contemplation and beautiful sights, this is a top spot.
The city's diversity can be witnessed in its food, art, music, culture, and neighborhoods.
New York is worth visiting for its diverse museums and galleries, top-notch restaurants, and non-stop entertainment. Architecture fans will love the iconic Empire State Building; sports lovers – the New York City Marathon; culture vultures – MoMA; and nature admirers – the sprawling Central Park.
New York, often called New York City or NYC, is the most populous city in the United States.
People who live in New York are called New Yorkers and Empire Staters.
New York City was (and is) the premier place for jazz musicians to perform, which made it more common to refer to New York City as the Big Apple.
Given its vibrancy, liberated population and mix of various nationalities, NYC is also known as 'the city that never sleeps'.
It has a huge metropolitan system, currently 36 rail lines. The Archer Avenue Lines and the 63rd Street Lines are each classified as two separate lines due to their structure: both lines are able to serve two divisions (the BMT and the IND) on distinct sections of track.
For most riders, the subway fare is $2.75. Reduced fares are available for people 65 and older, people with disabilities, and low-income New Yorkers. Learn more about fares.

Brooklyn's Oasis: The Japanese Pond & Garden
In the midst of Brooklyn's urban jungle, I found a tranquil sanctuary that felt worlds away from the city's hustle and bustle: the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. This gem is one of the oldest and most visited Japanese-inspired gardens outside Japan, a testament to the timeless allure of Japanese landscape design.
Combining the ancient hill-and-pond style with the more recent stroll-garden style, this garden is an artful balance of tradition and innovation. The journey through its winding paths revealed a series of carefully orchestrated scenes: the undulating contours of artificial hills around a pond, a waterfall cascading with a gentle roar, and an island standing as an epitome of solitude. The meticulous placement of rocks added to the sense of tranquillity and equilibrium, their silent presence a narrative of Zen philosophy.
The garden's architectural elements further enhanced its authenticity. I crossed over wooden bridges, walked past stone lanterns, and found moments of reprieve in a viewing pavilion and a Shinto shrine. The striking vermilion-coloured wooden torii, a traditional Japanese gate, marked the spiritual significance of the space. As I stood beneath it, the sounds of Brooklyn faded into the distance, and I was momentarily transported to a serene corner of Japan, right here in the heart of New York.

Erie Basin Park: Winter's Dusk Amidst History
My winter amble through the historic Erie Basin Park was nothing short of a captivating encounter with nature and history, all set against the backdrop of a beautiful winter sunset. The absence of snow lent a stark, almost monochrome feel to the landscape, with skeletal trees standing sentinel over the park's grounds. Yet, it was this very simplicity that underscored the park's inherent beauty and rich history.
Erie Basin Park, once the epicenter of New York's bustling port activity, now stands as a silent homage to a maritime past that shaped the city. The refurbished docks and assorted maritime artifacts scattered around the park served as tangible reminders of a time when ships and seafarers filled the area, their stories echoing faintly through the crisp winter air.
As the winter sun began its descent, the park took on an almost ethereal quality. The flock of geese grazing peacefully in the distance, silhouetted against the setting sun's pastel hues, and the inquisitive squirrel pausing to stare into my camera added a touch of life to the quiet scene.
However, despite their captivating presence, the focus remained on Erie Basin Park itself. As the sunset hues cast a soft glow over the park, the tranquil tableau provided a fitting end to the day. This was a moment where past and present, nature and urban life, all converged, offering a peaceful pause in the heart of the city's hustle and bustle.

New York, New York!
New York (Manhattan specifically), is a magical place and truly is the city that never sleeps!
It’s very easy to get to New York (3 airports in close distance to downtown), a train station and Greyhound bus station! Most of the action centres around the world famous 5th avenue which is great for shopping, sightseeing and not far from Times Square. Some other great attractions include Central Park and the Statute of Liberty (which you can get a ferry to). Top tip - not far from New York is a shopping outlet mall which has some great deals!

Best Hotel In NYC Financial District
The stay in Hotel Indigo NYC Financial District is really really amazing! The service staff are really helpful and awesome people! The hotel is newly renovated so all of the furnitures are new which made the stay extremely pleasant. The hotel is also very conveniently located to at least 3 subway lines. It is really easy to get around and the surroundings are quite safe with a lot of human movements throughout the day including weekends. Would definitely be back here again! Highly recommended!!#urbanexplorer #MyTripVlog
Winter Trip Back To New York!
Over winter break, I went home to NYC to visit family and relax a little bit. It was so nice, and so much fun! I ate so much good food, especially Italian food, and of course you can’t go to New York without doing some shopping, and visiting good sample sales like the ones offered by 260 Sample Sale! I stayed at the Hilton Club Central at 5th, and I had no complaints! The room was a great size and the service was good as always. Can’t wait to go back!#mytripvlog #urbanexplorer #tripblazers #nyc
🦖Day at the Museum,NYC🦕
It is my lifelong dream to visit the museum shown in the Night at the Museum movie, and I finally achieved it.
I truly enjoyed my solo trip at the American Museum of Natural History, New York. There were various displays of historical artifacts, arranged chronologically. The displays ranged from dinosaurs skeleton, mammoth, extinct animals, and artifacts from human civilization. I learned a lot about different cultures.
The museum is gigantic and it took me one whole day to complete the tour. I finished the tour by having dinner at the Shake Shack near the museum. Highly recommended.

NY Food stalls

New York Food Stalls You remember when you saw in American movies busy business people rushing get a hot dog or pretzel on their way to their next meeting? Why not try them out yourself? I said to myself at some point, we can’t be in NYC and not have a famous NYC hot dog! Perhaps nothing special but definitely worth the experience.
But these are for sure the things to see and watch out for when you are in NYC. We believe the city is vibrant and seems to inspire you, once there. The tall skyscrapers, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty to name a few are what make New York home to over 8 million people.

Checkinaway (@checkinawayblog) American Diner
#nyinsider
Another distinct set of eateries are the iconic American Diners. Diners offer a wide range of foods, mostly American cuisine, a casual atmosphere. Considered quintessentially American, many diners share an archetypal exterior form. Some of the earliest were converted rail cars, retaining their streamlined structure and interior fittings. From the 1920s to the 1940s, diners, by then commonly known as “lunch cars”, were usually prefabricated in factories, like modern mobile homes. And so we went to a nearby well reviewed diner and we ordered a traditional American steak imported from… Romania. Ta da! Bet you didn’t expect that one.

Little Italy is a neighbourhood in Lower Manhattan, once known for its large Italian population. It is bounded on the west by Tribeca and Soho, on the south by Chinatown. Calzones, Italian style cafes as you’d find in Rome are what the local immigrants from Italy brought to enrich New York’s cultural landscape.
Also, when in NY, make sure to go to a deli. It’s exactly like in the movies! As an undoubted carnivore I decided to go for the New York pastrami sandwich. It was everything someone like me would want, Hristina, on the other hand, had a cheesecake. Everyone with their preferences, I guess. And who would’ve guessed that all these were so good and served fresh in a central Amish store!

Checkinaway (@checkinawayblog) The Charging Bull of Wall Street
Ever been to New York City in America? You should head to the popular charging bull located at Bowling Green, New York, NY 10004 also called as the bull of wall street.
This bull gained its popularity due to the can do spirits of the American but to me as a tourists it's like our bog tummied buddha statue where its also somewhat the same colour where you visit it, touch it for good luck mainly due to wealth. I believe this charging bull also has the same kind of believe for many tourists when they rub the bulls balls and since its also in wall street too right?
Do take note that there is no where to park around this charging bull and due to its popularity it is also fenced up so that people do not anyhow cross the street, as the charging bull is located in the middle of the street.

Where do we even start? “New York, New York, ♫♫♫” – you can even hear Frank Sinatra singing it just like he did back in the 1980s. Discover amazing attractions, cool sights, and unusual things to do in New York City from City Hall Station to The Statue of Liberty.
We definitely would recommend going afterwards to the all famous Times Square. Sure, it’s a mainstream destination so expect plenty of tourist traps but you can still have fun and enjoy the amazing city lights, followed by a nice dinner. We actually did so at an Applebee’s right in front of the square itself! And no – prices were actually quite good for the location and so was the steak!

The United Nations Headquarters - the U.N. building is not hard to find and is in a very central part of Manhattan on the East River side.
The building itself isn’t necessarily an impressive feat of architecture but the meaning behind each element tries to capture a world story. When visiting, make sure to book your tickets well in advance online. They go very fast and visits must be guided, no walk-ins. Be sure to come in early as there is airport style security.
The significance of each room amplifies the moment you walk in and realise that the world is a safer place because of battles fought at the conference table, instead of the battlefield.

World Famous New York Times Square
A holiday is not complete in new york when one do not visit the ever famous New York Time Square located between intersection of Broadway and 7th avenue. New York Times Square is ever so famous due to its many huge signages of popular companies being illuminated and makes it a unique city.
This is a place also a shopping haven for many, from luxurious branded items, to the many famous chocolate brands like Reese, M&Ms, Laderach chocolatier and many more!
My recommendation is to head to time square both morning and night, this is where you are able to see the city in a different light and enjoy the variety of activies there. This is an absolute must for tourists to come to New York Times Square for the experience.

Grand Army Plaza
The Arch of Triumph, right here in Brooklyn! Commemorates the Civil War, of course. Lots of monuments to the Civil War here, so it must have been a big deal. This is an impressive entrance to Prospect Park and up the hill along Flatbush.
Right by the park, wonderful architecture, near the stunning Botantical Gardens, and the Brooklyn library and museum. A must see area.
It is easy to see the grandeur that once existed in this plaza. But, it is also easy to see this plaza has been neglected and the local plant life is winning the battle for dominance. If it is ever restored, it will most certainly be a sight to behold again.

New York: City Lights Will Inspire You 🌃🏙
As Jay Z and Alicia Keys once said, “these city lights will inspire you,” and sure they did 🤩
New York Times Square Night vs Day Images.
The city lights here are blinding and exciting.
💡Travel Tip: The later you go at night, the less people crowded it will be, which will help you take better photos!
Also! I went on a Saturday night around 7PM and it was extremely crowded. I went back again the next day on Sunday around 9PM and there were still people but it was way less crowded.
☀️🌙
The day and night vibes in Times Square is very different. When you go at night, it’s very captivating and exciting. Don’t get me wrong, it’s spectacular in the day too! However, there’s something about going to Times Square with your friends after a long day. You’ll get blinded by the huge billboards, flashing lights, loud music, the smell of the street vendors, and the amazing vibes.
I can’t wait to go back!

The Statue Of Liberty
Who doesn't visit Statue Of Liberty when you are on vacation in New York City.
There is only 1 way to the island of Statue Of Liberty, which is via ferry. Do go early as the queue gets INSANELY Long. We took about 90mins before we are able to get our tickets. Do check out for any discounts of certain apps, or via trip.com. As the tickets can be quite costly, i remember paying about $40 per person, but not sure if the price has increased since.
As this is a very popular attraction in New York do plan your trip there. There are couple of things to do, like heading up to the top of statue of liberty, but this has extra charges on top of your entrance fee. You could also join the Promenade and Observatory Tour or have a self-guided tour of the liberty island which costs less than $10 per person. Their audio has different languages so you do not have to worry.
If you worry about food, liberty island where the statue of liberty is has a huge cafe called the liberty crown cafe. They offer both eat in and take away options, and it has a huge food options but mainly western. Price wise, isn't too expensive to be honest due to the size of the burger. But i do recommend bringing your own water as the bottled drinks there are quite expensive, costing to $3USD or more.
In addition, your ferry ticket will consist of Ellis Island which is another hour or so so take your time and have everything planned out before heading there. Ellis island used to be one of the busiest immigrant inspection station in the united states back in 1892 to 1924. Ellis island now is home to a museum with history for visitors like us to visit.
